Agreed, I've never been impressed by Ryan's work ethic or style of play

On Ryan, it's hard to see how the dollars would work out beyond a year or two. Even if we shipped out some money to balance things a bit (say, Stajan and Bouma were somehow part of the deal), it would be tough to figure how things could fit together from 18-19 to 21-22, especially with a stagnant cap.
Having said all that, he would address the gaping void that is our right wing talent. Also, I can't recall watching him at all over the last 2-3 seasons, so I have no idea where his game is at these days.

The only way it could work is if Ottawa ate probably 30%, which would be about 2.2 million

The guy wasn't a PPG player in his draft year and was barely a PPG player in his over age season. I never understand why teams ever expect young players to excel offensively against the best in the world when they couldn't dominate junior.

It's amazing how many people don't know what an over age season is.

I know what it's true meaning is (20 year olds) also know people will understand what I was getting at. I suppose could have worded it as post draft season but I like the way over age sounds. Either way he wasn't a PPG player until his post draft season.

Well you just like the way it sounds, really? No worries about being accurate?

I just think you are being nit picky and I wasn't aware I was on trial. I can't go back and change it so what would you like me to do? Don't they consider guys like Hunter Smith and Mangiapane overagers when they are drafted a year later than eligible? Just goes to show you can used it a few different ways;

Mangiapane returned to the Colts for a second season and amassed 104 points in 68 games, good enough to finish in the top 20 in terms of NHLEs of all available forwards at the draft - as an overager, mind you.

Well if Faulk is in play, I would think the Canes are the frontrunners for Duchene
Adrian Dater @adate
Avs had a scout at Hurricanes game today. Justin Faulk is in play I hear

If Faulk is available that should be Sakic's absolutely focus. Dude is a hell of a blueliner.

Isn't Faulk a right shot? Avs have Barrie and Johnson. Unless Barrie goes (which is possible) then it doesn't make a ton of sense

HNIC:
Shattenkirk open to playing in Canada
He is open to signing 12 teams long term including Toronto and Montreal. Kypreos says safe to say Edmonton and Calgary not on the list
Teams looking at Brian Boyle for center depth
Yzerman asking price is high, might be even as high as a 1st round pick
Edmonton, CBJ, and Toronto have inquired
some people suggesting that Pens might take a look at Duchene, but can he fit him into their cap
hearing Canes are in play for Duchene
Sakic's wish list includes a high draft pick, a top prospect, and a top d-man
Kypreos suggests Derek Pouliot might be a main piece which Friedman seriously doubts
Rutherford wants to keep Fleury for this season in case Murray gets injured, but does recognize that Fleury wants to move on
the offside rule will be looked at the next GM meetings, want to consider changing it to the plane of the line instead of having a foot on the line

This is an interesting one. I wondered in the Fleury thread why he would waive his NMC if he was in line for a buy out and new contract while still getting to be a part of a cup contender. If he wants to move on right away though maybe he is considering waving.

Sure he wants to play but I'll bet he'd like to win, get paid and play. It he refuses to waive his ntc and stays on the pens, he might still play, there's a good chance he wins and help make a lot of money.

Is Faulk not the type of player the 'Canes should be trying to build with? Seems like their version of our Hamilton

My guess is they would only move him for an elite forward. They have a lot of young dmen and more coming - so the organization right now is a little imbalanced. They really need a forward who will be their game breaker, so I see that type of acquisition being the only reason they look at moving Faulk.

The source is Adrian Dater, might as well be Eklund. The guy is awful.
