I really feel like the Flames need to look at what's going on in Stockton. It's a developmental league, I get it. I would like to see our kids develop a winning attitude. Let's get this team into the damn playoffs!
I believe it's Hartley's system. It might work with skilled, experienced guys like TJ Brodie and Mark Giordano and Mikael Backlund, but it seems ripe for exposing goaltenders without guys of that two-way calibre. Then you get down and are chasing the rest of the game. No individual has their risk mitigated by a strong system.
Which is good for development, IMO. More mistakes with thin margins for error, the more the players work to perfect their craft.
Charlotte lost their game today, so the Heat are still hanging on by a thread.
Charlotte has 2 games remaining and must lose both of them in regulation for the Heat to have a chance. They play Lake Erie in Cleveland on Thursday and Friday.
The Heat play San Diego today, Bakersfield on Tuesday, and end the season with a home-and-home against San Jose on Saturday and Sunday. If the Heat win all four games (the final two in regulation), they are guaranteed to finish fourth in the Pacific, but still require Charlotte to lose out in order to make the playoffs.
