I am speaking from a Blackhawk POV...We do not NEED a RW...we need a #2 Center...so Iginla is a luxury, not a nescessity...
Murray for 2 x 2nd rounders, that is not too much to pay...I feel that Pitts erred with the amount they gave up for Morrow if that move was taken on it's own...but in total then, the Pitts move was Murray and Morrow for 2 x 2nd rounders a 5th rounder and the 1st round prospect Morrow...

Frankly, everything surrounding Iginla...his value to the Flames...his place among the leagues forwards... his legacy..has been a giant pissing contest here for about 3 or 4 years now.

I would do JG + Iggy for Hamilton but that won't happen. Anything else from boston for Iggy needs to include spooner for me to be happy.
I wonder if we can get Bernier, Toffoli because of the returns in my head that is my favourite. Bernier and a first is okay but pretty meh.

Iginla is better in every category you just mentioned.

Goals and assists bring back more in a trade, they always have. You're missing that key ingredient.
If you're suggesting Iginla doesn't have heart, doesn't have character and doesn't have a will to win.... Oh boy.. Don't know what else to say to you.

Are you seriously contending that Morrow is worth more than Iginla when looked at as a whole package?
lol

I'm sort of panicking that this trade hasn't happened already. I get that there is still a week until the deadline but the waiting is killing me here.

Good centres make wingers better. So a focus on centres and d through the next few drafts would be a good idea. If you have too many deal from strength for the other positions. Teams always want d and centres so the value stays high.
|
If we get two firsts and a C prospect from trading what we have (1 from Iginla and one from Cammy/Tanguay/J-Bo/Stemp/Glencross??) and get a top 4 pick, we could legitimately eliminate centre depth as a problem, at least in the system.
Some B level prospects and perhaps a Barkov,Lindholm,Monahan?
Yes please

You can trade his rights on draft day and get draft picks, roster player and/or conditional picks on re-signing. I would want picks over roster player.
If you trade him to a team like Philly or Wash, then the 2nd round pick is almost the same value as the 30th overall pick.
Keep in mind that signing Iggy will bring intangibles (way beyond the on-ice performance) to a market. Tickets sales, jersey sales and your team will have a very good opportunity to get on (stay on) the front pages of your sports section again. Iggy has the kind of character and story that sells newspapers and gets even casual fans excited for him.

Wow you're lucky this board only supports thanking posts and not thumbs down them. I understand that you are trying to prove your point, but that was a failed attempt.
Heart, like getting pissed and fighting anyone willing and then scores a hat trick?
Character, like being the nicest individual off the ice for years and an all round good teammate and long time captain?
A will to win, like a long time star player who although loves Calgary just wants a taste of the Stanley cup while he still can?
Chemistry, like the kind he and Crosby had during the olympics?
Consistency, like being a consistent 30 goal scorer for over a decade?
Any more attributes you'd like to bring to the table?

You've been dreadful to read throughout this whole ordeal but this takes the cake.

But Flash can always point to the pivotal role Morrow played in the success of Canada's Olympic team! And then there is his 2 gold medals.
Oh wait ......

Well Roger Millions' observation from watching the Kings / Hawks game last nite was that the Hawks aren't physical enough for the Kings. Would make sense to add one of the toughest power forwards in the league.
The Ducks are also a big and tough team and so are the Bruins, and now the Pens have added some size and toughness.
If you ask me, the Hawks need Iginla. This isn't the same Hawks team that won the cup. They lost some serious size and grit in Byfuglien and Ladd. Jamal Mayers, Bryan Bickell, and Brandon Bollig isn't going to cut it in a 7 game series vs a team like the Kings, Bruins, and DUcks

Ridiculous. Gaudreau's stock has risen a lot more this past year. People needs to get past the fact JG was a 4th rd pick. He might be the best player in college right now and was arguably a top 3 player in the WJC. Trading him with Iggy for Hamilton, Flames would be getting fleeced IMO.

Re: LA potentially giving up Bernier
I get that LA will probably want the moon for Bernier, but I hope they realize that they have 6'4" Martin Jones in Manchester who is doing well.
Just throwing that out there.

Scott Burnside article:
http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/i...-jarome-iginla
Quote:
Although Iginla’s offensive numbers are not what they once were, he did score the winning goal in the Flames’ last game a 3-2 win over St. Louis. It was the 83rd game-winner of Iginla’s career.
"The way I look at Jarome Iginla, he’s a very proud athlete. He’s always in the gym, he always works hard and looking at the minutes we’re giving him, we didn’t see any slowing down or anything," Hartley said.
"He’s a very proud man. He’s a franchise player and those guys are very unique individuals. They’re unique players and they’re unique human beings. It’s just lots of fun to work with Jarome."
Still, Hartley would not explore the idea of what it might be like to coach a team that did not have the familiar No. 12 in the lineup.
"Anything is possible. I don’t trade, I coach. I’ll stick to my job and I’m sure that Jay and his group will do what’s best for the Calgary Flames," Hartley said.
|
Quote:
Teammate Mike Cammalleri said there is no avoiding the speculation that surrounds the team captain and really everyone else in the dressing room.
"As far as the speculation, most of us can read. We’re aware of it," he said.
"The best way to deal with it is to understand it. It’s not that hard to understand. We play in a Canadian market where people love their hockey. Jarome Iginla has been the face of the Calgary Flames franchise for, how long now? There’s going to be a lot of gossip when it comes to this topic.
"As far as us players, he hasn’t been any different in the room."
|
Quote:
It is easier said than done, given the contractual baggage that is attached to many of the Flames’ players.
Although the Flames do not technically occupy the bottom spot in the NHL standings, if you asked 100 hockey people to name the worst organization in the NHL right now, at least 90 would name the Flames. Edmonton, Florida even misguided Colorado have more reasons for optimism for the future.
But fortunes can change quickly in the NHL.
