Finally finished ME2 (and all the DLC) this past weekend. I don't know what caused me to put it down back when I did... likely other distractions and then I forgot about it. What an awesome game.

I'm actually sad I don't have any content left to play... I started up another Shepard and am going to casually play through it trying to make the opposite choices I did before just to see that side of the storyline.

Can't wait until March.

Mass Effect 3 looks less and less like 'Mass Effect' and more like a heavier science-fiction 'Gears of War' with every video they release. Is it even an RPG anymore?

I've seen Mass Effect 3 in action. It looks very much like Mass Effect, don't worry. Trailers are rarely representative of a game.

Is anyone seriously upset that the PC version requires Origin? Is Origin really that bad? I'll be playing on 360 anyway, but all the outrage makes me curious.

Which one?

And yes. I want Steam sales on the DLC, and I want to keep my games in one place.

Like Mass Effect, in general. That statement wasn't really specific to either ME1 or 2. The post above mine is one of many I've heard where people seem think it looks more 'like a shooter than a Mass Effect game.'

(Actually, a lot of people bitched about ME2 losing RPG aspects that 1 had and it looks like BW is putting them back in. I dunno to what extent, but there seems to be more options than 2 had...)

But it's not like they're going to put menus, weapon upgrading, conversations & romances, or can show much pertaining to morality, all in trailers.

Let me put it this way for you. When buying SWTOR, I had to go through Origin. I ended up having to order it three times because Origin would sign me out as I paid for it so I it would lose my e-mail and send the confirmation/download e-mail to "anonymous" all while still taking my money.

When I called EA to get a refund, the Origin system was doing the same thing to the EA employee. When I finally got frustrated with how long something as simple as a refund was taking because of Origin making things difficult I said "And this is what you guys are going to use to compete against Steam? You guys are going to get bent over and take it raw."

And I #### you not, the guy's response was to laugh, say yeah. That he shouldn't be saying anything but yeah, Steam is infinitely superior. And you could tell that he wanted to lash out like I had.

Origin is a piece of junk.

Steam had MASSIVE problems when it first launched too. Origin and the SWTOR pre-orders went pretty much hand-in-hand. It had problems, no doubt - and while it may not be as good as Steam, Origin certainly isn't any more difficult to work with. It's serviceable, and will get better with time much like Steam did.

I won't just blindly defend it, but outside of the initial silliness of how the SWTOR preorders and how the accounts were handled(/mishandled), Origin has been fine for me. I've bought a few games on sale on it and haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Hah. No kidding, eh. Been looking forward to this one for a long time. I'm still not sold on the multiplayer aspect, but we'll see how that pans out.

It looks pretty cool, but at this point, it's just icing on the cake.
I've loved both ME1 and ME2 which both lacked multiplayer.
If I want multiplayer, I'll keep playing MW3.

I think ME2 went as far down that road that the developer is going to go, but we'll see. If they make the weapon upgrades more meaningful, I'll be satisfied. At this point of the story, I don't really miss the loot/inventory stuff.

It'll be a delight to see the old characters again, and Bioware's dialogue and voice work are great, but I worry about the story structure. My guess is that it will go much like most Bioware games: you begin, then you're given a set of destinations which you can visit in any order you like (gather your allies for the big war against the Reapers), and once you're done with that you go to the final place and have the final fight. For once I'd like to see a few more twists.

Really looking forward to the music now that they've changed the composer. In music and audio design I felt that ME2 fell short of the standard set by ME1. Music was rarely that noticeable and sometimes even managed to miss the obvious narrative cues that were there, like in the final cut scene that just didn't take off in the way it was supposed to.

I've preordered it from Amazon. Just hearing my femshep deliver new lines will make me giggle like an idiot.

Might have to replay the game to get a really jerkfaced Sheppard. I came through the last mission in ME2 with my crew intact and everyone giving me the deep meaning head node in the wrap up video.

Even though Bioware has said that this is the end of the Sheppard triology, there will probably be more ME games on the Horizon as that galaxy is incredibly rich.

Mass Effect has probably my favorite sci-fi universe ever now, even moreso than Star Trek or Star Wars (largely due to the much higher believability factor). humans advanced quickly due to some alien technology finds, are no where near Star Trek perfect and are distrusted in most of the galaxy, and all the aliens actually look like aliens and not different colored humans (though they do have a significant advantage in this regard to TV shows or movies)

it just seems like they have a much deeper and more complex universe than most other sci-fi, and in a relatively short time. i hope they keep making games and books that continue to expand it

Already got the limited edition pre-ordered, but I'm hoping I'll have time to beat the first two games again so I can get the exact ending I want. Rachni queen, sleeping with Liara and Miranda, saving Kaiden, rescuing all my crew, etc.

Hopefully the multiplayer is a solid addition as all my friends will be getting the game as well. 4 player horde mode (what it looks like) seems intriguing, hopefully it has the lasting appeal of Gears' Horde mode, and isn't just like 5 missions then you're done the multiplayer aspect.

Saving Kaidan and letting Ashley die?! You should be cheering for the Canucks.
