The National is so lame. I don't understand what people see in them. lame music, lame lyrics sung by a guy who sounds like he has taken too many sedatives that day.

I think I agree with you. Tuneless, humorless, dour music.

I wasn't that impressed with the new MGMT album.. I even put it on my ipod at the gym so I would be forced to listen to it, no dice.

I really like High Violet. I think more so because it was such a diversion for me... just different enough to make me enjoy it.

I am kind of a weirdo but.. I love to work out and run to Radiohead.. High and Dry, Fake Plastic Trees etc.. and I have found that High Violet has the same effect on me at the gym.

I think it just helps me focus more than anything. Girls are distracting.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but an awesome instrumental jazz/funk band The Budos Band released their 3rd album in 2010.

Given the style, it'll either be hit or miss... but I can't get enough of it.

Hell, Wikipedia describes them as afro-beat.

Though instrumental simply describes the lack of a vocalist... jazz/funk is hardly an unusual genre.

Cool, I love awesome instrumental jazz/funk band.
I just started listening to the first one, and Olli's head bops perfectly in rhythm with it.
