Interesting article on things the movie got wrong. Although the article seems obviously anti-Saverin and pro-Zuckerberg and just anti-the Social Network altogether, nevertheless interesting.
despite the movie showing what an ahole Zuckerberg is, it really shines him as a visionary, and they do basically portray him as a genius.
Who is pathetic and lonely, and really just wants to be a rower having sex with what's-her-name. That's the motivation they gave him, which was pretty bold considering they could have just made his motivation money. Furthermore, they portray him as someone who destroys his only friendship, not because of creative differences, but to become richer. I really don't know how they could have made him more pathetic and stuck with the main story of "genius kid invents billion dollar website."

There is a saying that it is better to have business partners who become friends than friends who become business partners. This seems to be true in the case of facebook.
Here's something that blew me away, I didn't know about it till after I saw the movie. I think its cool to keep it under wraps so as not to distract from the experience
spoiler in white:
the winklevoss twins were played by one actor, armie hammer whose face was digitally superimposed on to a stand ins body. the stand in actor, josh pence is actually credited with playing tyler winklevoss

There's a better saying, "don't be an *******." You shouldn't have a problem.

The opening scene is spectacular. Z is so gifted, and so lacking, at the same time.
I'm not a fan of Trent Reznor, but the music gave the movie a real nervy edge.
The Wonder Twins were outstanding, and had more depth than typical antagonists.
You could see what was going to happen to Eduardo right from the start, so it was fascinating to watch the betrayal unravel. He gets our sympathy, but you also feel Z had all the talent, and Eduardo was just in the right place in the right time.
How did Z not get in bigger trouble for the facemash site?
Timberlake was very good as Parker.
Most of the scenes are at night or in dark rooms. Intentional?
I'm interested now in getting the book, The Accidental Billionaires.
Inception was good, but this is on a whole other level.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie. It's too bad I haven't had a chance yet! I have only heard good things about it. Rottentomatoes gave it 97%! Usually, they are pretty critical.
Saw it this afternoon and loved it. Really have to agree with most comments made here. As far as Reznor's score goes, there's a version of Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King which was utterly perfect for the moment.
See, I don't think Z looked like a 'bad guy' at all. Yes, he tried to screw his friend, but part of me thinks there is more to that story (creative differences or something). Clearly Eduardo wanted to take the company a certain way and had really no understanding of how to monetize the facebook brand. That's kind of a big deal. Parker, who came off as y, did put Z in touch with people who were willing to give him tonnes of money to push the busines forward.
I agree. I don't think any one character looked entirely bad or good. Eduardo really did come off as naive and bitter. He was clearly jealous of Parker, who had the vision to take the company to the next level.
I'm glad that Eduardo wins in the end though. According to Wikipedia he gets 5-6% of the company, which is probably around a 1 billion dollars. Even though he was an awful CFO, he was essentially tricked into a contract as shareholder. Even though he doesn't get his 35% back, he still gets 1 billion dollars for being in the right place at the right time.

I had the idea for a portable mp3 player in 1998, but considering I had no idea how to make it, market it or program it I couldn't get it done.
I agree 100%. I don't think they deserved much in the end. Facebook was a similar idea to their idea, but you cannot copyright an idea. I think the most they shoudl have gotten was damages for a delay in the launch of their lame dating site.

I know critics are critics and nobody likes them... but these two sites are notoriously hard to get high ratings on. Inception, by comparison, only received an 87% (RT) and a 74/100 (MC) rating. It's been a long time since I've seen ratings like this on a movie like this. Usually the super-high ratings are reserved for the annual Disney movie, not movies that are almost 100% script and score.
Anyway, I plan on seeing it again later this week. The dialogue is so fast and events move so quickly, I know there are some subtitles I've missed. Not to mention Sorkin is my favourite script writer (by far)...

Who are we?
Our samurais are mostly Stanford students, but with long fight hours at Google, Apple, Microsoft and LinkedIn—including the co-founder of one of those tiny little companies (not Steve, sorry).
We don’t offer free restaurant-grade chow like Google, but we live on pizza and Starbucks coffee! Just as Starbucks provided a fresh take on coffee, we are going after a clearly defined segment of social networking where customers pay cash for their crack. We are crazy enough to believe that this will help us forget about raising capital until we are profitable and have dozens of investors begging us to be our friends on Facebook.
Sometimes I envy those who work in software and wish I picked software over semiconductors, but oh well.

I saw it last weekend and thought it was decent. The acting and writing were top-notch, but it didn't suck me in the same way Inception or The Town did. I also still think Timberlake is a pretty bad actor.
