I think the passing is a huge upgrade on last year. Far less certainty that those impossible “pass to the back of the forwards skates as he leave the zone” kind of passes will connect, plus the ability to bank outlet passes more effectively around forecheckers is pretty neat.

One-timers seem like they will take a lot more effort, and passing back to the points is still terrifying two games in, but overall I like it a lot. I especially love how poor some of my HUTterites are at taking passes. It’s just fun watching them bobble the pass.

Found all of this, especially not taking passes 100% of the time. Makes for a very fun game. HUT is a lot of fun, though I'm worried about what happens when my contracts all run out...

Love the game so far, HUT is a mode I wrote off immediately and now I haven't played anything else.

The physics, the hits and the passing make it more than worth it in my eyes.

I do have a gripe about the cards though. I'm pro-capitalism, and I understand game developers almost never make money, but the ability to buy card packs is starting to get to me. When I started out my attitude was "I don't need to buy them, I'll just earn them". Now I'm 5 or 6 hours into developing my team and getting it how I like it and I HAVE to buy a $0.99 pack or I'll lose 5 key players next game.

I'm not a bad player, nor am I a great one. My record stands at 6-4-1. There is no way I'll make enough pucks in the next game to be able to keep many of my players, and I started out with the 3 bonus packs.

It just feels forced and overly punative to those that don't want to spend. I realize $0.99 is nothing in the whole scheme of things, but it feels dirty. This isn't just spending money to save a little time, it feels like spending money so your time investment isn't completely worthless.

One thing i would like to point out is that I haven't been matched with anybody way out of my league yet. You tend to play people of your skill level, so I'm not concerned of people like 3justin3 just buying their way to superiority.

So far, I like the new passing and faceoffs. The hitting physics are pretty cool as well. Broken sticks have made me miss a few goals but it's pretty realistic.

The one thing that bothers me is that it seems impossible to poke-check CPU players. The only way to get the puck seems to be stick lift or hitting them.

Sorta realistic though - outside of spending real world money in an artificial game, teams often can’t, or are unwilling to, retain players. Roster turnover is to be expected, isn’t it?

I’m not far enough in to have faced this yet, so I dunno. I kinda got the impression though that roster turn over is something to be expected, and that you could avoid by spending the money on consumables. Or am I out to lunch?

anyone for ps3 have a problem with connection when playing HUT?

Even when i was still connected ( winning 7-2) the game stops goes to the start screen and says lost connection yada yada, than the game counts as a loss and well obviously no pucks.

I have Ben Bishop and Nabakov, plus another guy in the 70's who's name escapes me right now, plus 5 other lower rated goalies.

Willing to trade Nabakov as Bishop is a stud even at a lower rating. Would like pucks or scoring, Nabby is rated well and has a decent contract, only used him one game.

I've got Chris Mason and Boucher in net if you want one of them for Legwand? I have some Euro goalie as my 3rd string....I'm playing on 360

my main gripe at this point is online versus (my favourite mode of the game year in and year out, playing as the flames against people all over), is that it's damn near impossible to get the puck back. You just have to patiently sit back on D and wait for a rebound, or a mistake. Poke checks and sticklifts have a higher probability for a penalty than actually breaking up the play.

Does anyone know if there is a way to find and play your friends via HUT? I tried googling for this, but couldn’t really find a good answer

My starting goalie was a 60 overall. After playing a couple games, I went into the auction and won a goalie who was a 74 overall with the potential to become an 86. I'm pretty happy about that. It only cost me 250 pucks.

You gotta hit guys to knock them off the puck. Much like real life.

Lucky...The rare card I got was a +35 contract...Too bad I have no one to use it on.

Yes it is, its just that the turnover rate is quite high ... you may only play with a really great rookie for 5 games. I was in a bit if a mood last night, but I'd still like to see the turnover a little lower. I guess complaints aside, it's generally an even field right? Everybody who goes with no cards is going to run into these problems.

where does it show what their potential is?

and if anybody else knows, are consumables the only way to improve a player?
