I personally like to go with the huge title that makes no sense. For instance, in Vlad's case something like this would be appropriate.

NOTE : Name must be read in a LOTR esque english female accent with gloomy style music playing behind it.

Just a comment from a different viewpoint - What about going with a North American name? I know its old school, but a lot of people still distrust Russians... I hope that won't be a problem in the future, but if you want to North Americanize him and remove some of that natural distrust North Americans have of Russians... Pull some Chinese action out of your hat and name him Howard.
