Yes, that's what it means. Maxmillions only kick in when the Max jackpot is $50 million.

What I want to know is, with $30 million in the pot for next Friday instead of $10 million (the usual base jackpot), why they didn't draw 6 extra Maxmillions for the 55 they advertised.

Weird.

I would suspect the the $5 prizes that were one are expected to be used next week. When those prizes are all claimed they will rapidly increase the prize pool.

I'm not sure what you mean by $5 prizes. Free plays? If so, all the prizes that were won last night are not considered part of next Friday's pool. Because next Friday's pool will only be for next Friday's free plays and other winnings. And so on.

If the prize pool increases beyond what they advertise, it's because of higher sales than they predicted. Not because of unclaimed prizes from last week.

You can claim lottery prizes up until a year after the draw date. After that, unclaimed $ goes into future bonus jackpots for that game.

What I mean is that people who won a free play this week will likely redeem those prizes this week. When those tickets are redeemed they contribute 48% of their value goes into the prize pool. Since way more tickets then normal were purchased last week it is likely that more free tickets would be redeemed the following week therefore the pool the following week would be estimated to be higher.

The other part of the pool would be all of the left over Max Millions would go in the main pot this week.

Okay true, all the Free Plays cashed in will go into the pot. I expect to be doing some thousand of those. I didn't even win one myself.

I still wish they'd drawn the 55 maxmillions.
