Apparently it was going to take upwards of a year for all those planes affected.
Yep, and that was pretty much all I was looking for- some sort of explanation or apology. A nice touch would have been some sort of flight credit for the inconvenience. But instead I got a big fat nothing. I understand that stuff happens, but it's all about how it's handled. IMHO WestJet has crossed that fine line that they straddled for years between being "Edgy and Confidant" and being "Arrogant and Jerky."
Cars are a depreciating asset and in all reality a luxury item. So if the Toyota is a good product that does the job, I don't care if it's boring or if everyone points at me and laughs for having a boring car.
Well, with their recent recalls, apparently they're not such a good product. Who would've thought you'd get gas pedal problems AFTER you add drive-by-wire, which would, in theory, give you the ability to cut the throttle upon application of the brake, with an easy bit of code in the software. Toyota didn't do that. If they did, they'd still need to recall the pedals, but it could've saved lives, and it would save them a lot of lawsuits, and help them retain their previously good reputation.
As far as just buying any "good product that does the job", I just don't understand that mentality. I know a ton of "non car-people", who actually really enjoy their cars. You should never say "Toyota's good enough". You should always shop around, and find something that suits you best. That sort of mentality is what helps create monopolies. Same thing with phones. The iPhone has a nice hold on the smartphone market, and I'm sure there are a ton of people who would shop around, and still go with the iPhone. The iPhone is at least trendy...Toyotas have been boring for years.

My 2 bits on my company (yes I do work for WestJet )...
-Seat pitch is above average unless you are comparing to business class
-737's are great airplanes and newer than most airbuses that AC flies
-I do hear the Embraer's have great inflight entertainment
-Some FA's can be too much (too happy at the wrong time), but if you just prefer cranky and serious then fair enough
-AC and WJ are generally far better than just about everything in the US
-the wiring issue with the TV's wasn't because 'some guy' wired it wrong and it was overheating--it had to do with an FAA rule change that affected only airplanes made after a certain date, and related to the proximity of the IFE wiring to the Fuel quantity indicating system. There were no actual problems with the system.
-Ken, maybe I can help take care of that issue for you. I'll PM you.
Otherwise, it is good to hear AC has improved customer service (I worked there for several years, I felt guilty for the service that was often given---I rarely have that problem anymore at Westjet). If you do have any issues with a flight or customer service, please provide the feedback here.

I don't know if it's a boycott, but I won't shop at WalMart. Between their shady labour practices and the fact that they choke out small local business I hates them. Saving 20 bucks a month on groceries doesn't change that it's a totally funked company IMO.

Was it The Brinkhaus? That is where I got my wife her engagment ring and our bands. I didn't spend quite that much though!
They have a location in Calgary (a little house in the middle of downtown) and Vancouver I believe.
I'll ask my wife (She just got back from a stag a while ago).
It was just a big office building. I don't know if the owner is East Indian or Muslim, but he's from the East. It was a great deal. It was easy as well.
Wife picked everything out and I just had to fly down and pay for it ha ha (She's from Vancouver)

So she'll be fishing that ring out of her pocket I assume
Boycotting all fast food burgers. Real ground beef only represents about 15-20% of actual meet cuts in the "ground beef patties", the rest is what they call "filler", which does come from beef, but it includes all the parts that cannot be sold by butchers as cuts (use your imagination).
I would like to know where you heard that and what you mean by 'cannot be sold as cuts.'
I worked in the beef industry for 12 years and I know for a fact that everything that gets shipped out of any major beef production plant (in Alberta) for use in human food is the same beef as what 'butchers sell as cuts'. It isn't like they make ground beef from strip loins, tenderlions and ribeyes, but the whole lips and arseholes thing, if that is what you are referring to, is really a long perpetuated myth.

I found out the name of the ring guy. His company is called Golden Hands Manufacturing Ltd. My wife told me the guy mainly manufactures rings for stores and does some personal work on the side.
Her sister basically referred us. I don't even know a lot about rings, but my budget wasn't crazy high. My wife's ring is just over 1 carat , a princess cut, and it has diamonds all around the ring band and the separate band. Looks nice.
Not me, I have not owned a Microsoft product in 5 years. I had enough with their faulty programs and especially their crappy Windows products. Once I went Apple I never looked back and happy I did.
Try to have one of your late afternoon / evening Grande Prairie flights actually depart on time. Not one of my AC flights has departed on time the last 7 times I have caught this flight. A suggestion might be to not use the same plane / have such unreasonable turnaround times.

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure you meant this as a gear grinder, and not to boycott.
And I've flown a few times to GP with AC, and I don't ever notice an issue- except one time we had a wicked tailwind and got here way too early, meaning we had to sit on the runway forever. BOYCOTT THE AIRPORT!
