I like all the draft picks by the flames, they sound like they all played very well.

I think he should have started this year in the NHL, last season was close, but you're probably right on that.

Fact is Sutter has drafted/signed some really good kids since taking over... but doesn't trust them...and it pisses me off. Would Ryan Wilson have been an NHL player if he wasn't traded away? No.

That's a rant for another thread though.

Great seeing Wahl play so well, still not sold on his NHL upside -- I think AHL to NHL is a MUCH bigger gap then Junior to minors -- but good to see him helping.

Ditto for Sutter's playoff hotness, reminds me of another scrappy player who played big for Playfair during his last Calder Cup run, Steve Begin.

The thing I like about bringing up the young guys, is their enthusiasm whether in the AHL as we are seeing now or the NHL. Guys like Lombardi in their first couple of years brought smiles to Iginla when he had to keep up.

Pelech I want to see with Calgary next season. He either stays or is traded as his free ride in the A has run out and he'll need to clear waivers. Course if Sutter is replaced, the new guy will want to put his stamp on the team and get rid of old prospects. We saw it happen with Button not signing St. Louis.

Just got back from the game. Wahl looked GREAT, has some chemistry going on a line with Buoma and Rheault. Showed some presence of mind in the slot with the puck on his backhand - instead of quickly putting it to the net for an easier save he worked it a bit to really get a lot on the backhand and scored his first of the game. Rheault has some speed and likes to use it to try to beat defenders or chip and chase if the D is angling him off. Dangerous line all night.

I noticed Backlund here and there. Bad giveaway in the Heat zone where he threw it out from the boards hoping to find a Heat forward, but instead right to a Bulldog and Shantz had to be awesome. Favourite Backlund moment - grabbing the visor of Bulldogs #61 (who I swear was the smallest guy on the ice) and shaking his head around for 5 to 10 seconds, picking up a roughing penalty in the process.

Sutter looked good. Worked hard all night and after a scrum in front of the Heat net went over and yapped at one of the Hamilton coaches.

Overall, the shots were nearly even but the Heat didn't give up many quality chances to the Bulldogs.

Pelech has definitely been ready for a while. In fact, he probably would have joined the Flames at some point this season if not for being injured for most of it.

IMO there is no way he's not on the starting roster next year. He probably takes the place of Sarich or Staios.

Pretty sure he was implying that one will be gone in the offseason.

Thanks for the recap and analysis. Is it possible that someone could list the lines used? Couldn't find them anywhere, and it seems the scoring hasn't been from just one line (or else they're being mixed up frequently). Thanks!

Urgh, those stands look pretty empty still. I'm hoping the Nucks get eliminated Sunday and the heat make it through to the next round so the stands will start to fill up.

Great celebration by Wahl! Pelech had a nice game as well, with two physical penalties, two assists, and was a plus three on the night.

I love that picture of Hawkey doing the crybaby over the Dogs bench.

Hawkey always likes to bug the opposing coaches and players.

Looked like he shoulda got creamed after he kinda of lost control of it after the 2nd move and he reached out for it... but made the play.
