Depending on your window, you can buy the stuff at Home Depot to make one for about $20. Did it a couple years ago when I moved and one of the windows didn't have a screen and the window places wanted obscene amounts for one.
Damn near idiot proof to make one too. I think I used a hacksaw to cut the metal pieces for the frame and bought the $5 roller tool to put in the lining and mesh and that's about it. 45 mins later I had a screen.
The mosquitoes are #######s this year. I have 3 bites that bruised worse then normal. I've stopped hockey pucks and came out with less of a mark.

Oh my goodness this is intolerable. Why do the life changing epiphanies always happen at 2am on nights where sleeping in is completely not an option?

Haven't had much sleep last couple of nights. I've slept at my daughters bedside at the hospital. Will probably press charges against my closest friend because he's been a ####ing idiot on an unforgivable scale. Next stop explaining things to social services. And the police. I'm loving my vacation so far.
Kid is going to be fine, thankfully.

Packed cannabis cake on a cabin trip with school age kids without telling anyone, in the same bag with a whole bunch of common food no less. And then was not even there for the unpacking. You can guess how it goes from there.
Now I'm under suspicion by police and social services for being a drug parent, because I (unknowingly) served two small kids large doses of cannabis in the form of chocolate cake. Both kids were hospitalized for two days. I also ate some myself, just to make sure my life is absolutely screwed. Thankfully my wife was not there, so at least she tests clean, so they gave us (her) our kid pack.
For the record, I would have rather thrown the guy overboard than let him take any drugs with him on a family trip.
Yes, will press charges once I get home.

So it's funny that the last posts were about weed; I decided two days ago that I was no longer going to have marijuana in my house (Or beer, but that's a separate thing). I'm not quitting it persay, but as most of my consumption was solo and at home, it seemed like a good idea to force myself to at least leave the house and interact with the world if I want to get high. Or have a beer. For posterity, I'll mention I was smoking two bowls reasonably sized bowls a day at minimum, at times going up as high as five or six in an eight hour span.
The result of this shift has mental clarity and focus that I haven't felt in eighteen months. I've been feeling more creative, more driven, and the whole 'no beer in the house' thing has lost me six lbs in the last week. I don't know if that sounds unreasonable, but it's the only thing I can think of unless I've been going to the gym in my sleep.
Which I wouldn't be, because my brain has been revving at 9000rpm until about 4am the last three nights. Now fortunately, my job does not require me to be in until generally 11am at the absolute earliest, but the fact remains, this is irritating. It'll pass, I know. But shouting into the void makes me feel better.

Well, social services closed our case, which is nice since that was really our biggest worry beyond health worries, and after that we've been able to not think about this every day.
Kids are mostly fine, although ours has been more worried than usual whenever she gets hurt a bit or feels funny. Nothing too worrying, but still it's pretty clear where that came from.
Haven't heard anything from the police. It's not unusual in Finland for things to take forever. Would be nice to get some closure on that finally.
In the end I probably took the worst hit. I've had a couple of panic attacks. There was some really rough moments before we got my kid to the hospital. and it's fair to say those moments haunt me. I should probably talk about that stuff to someone, but I honestly haven't been that great with dealing with this. I've been getting to it finally though.
It also wears on me that I can't talk to my friend, who used to be really important for me. Just can't deal with him right now.
I might be filing for a divorce too. It's been brewing up for a long time now, and only very thinly related to this episode, but still.
Good thing about aging is that you get better in dealing with stuff. So overall I'm not doing as bad as all that might sound.

Gotta say, nothing is more frustrating when struggling with sleep issues than having your other half go from 0 to sleeping in the span of 3 minutes right in front of you.

You'd think the night after getting less than 5hrs and being a zombie all day at work fantasizing about being in bed, that I'd get a solid "catch-up sleep" the next night. No sir, think this one was even worse than the previous night's sleep. If I don't end up getting myself sick over the weekend from being run down I'll be shocked. Have the gf's family coming into town tonight too, so I'll have to be "on" when I get home. This should be interesting..
