I know it's just getting used to a new game playing against people who've been playing the beta for a while, but still I'm getting frustrated getting only 3-400 points per round, it's gonna take forever to get the good weapons.
What class are you playing mostly photon? I find that assault can often end up in low score rounds. To get easy points just focus on your "support" role as whatever class you play rather than fighting. Tossing down ammo into groups of guys as assault, repair like a mofo as engi. Hanging out just behind the line of an advance and doing this is the best way to bang out those first half dozen kit upgrades.

Been playing all of them trying to get the basic unlocks.. I mean really, you have to unlock medic tools as a medic? REALLY?

But I've got them now (except the paddles) and it's going better now, got close to 1000 tonight. Yeah I know I can rack up more points in a tank or doing support, but I want to learn to shoot!

Actually not really shooting, more just learning how to see other players, I find I get shot a lot through bushes or in houses or other places where I had no idea the guy was there.

You get killed a lot in that game from random ass places. Eventually you'll start getting kills on people where you know they're on the other side going "WTF". Battlefield has always been like that.

In this version half the time you won't even really see the other player's model clearly, you'll be shooting at the triangle marker from someone else spotting him.

We got in the tank from the beginning and during the entire match it blew up maybe twice, because as soon as it'd get hurt or we'd be in the clear I would jump out and heal it. In 4 games it got my Squad score from 300 to 2000.

Me and my friend make a good pilot/gunner tandem in the heli as well. Unfortunately we play with n00bs who as soon as they get in nose dive it, then try and recover by barrel rolling into a building. It is annoying, albeit extremely hilarious.
You can't compare console gamer points with PC gamer points when you are dealing with shooters and snipers with lightning fast, pinpoint mouse accuracy. Console and PC Battlefield are very different gaming experiences. There are also a lot more vetrans of Battlefield on the PC due to the early beta and generally higher skill overall than your typical console matchmaking game.

Good news for PC players, my friend tells me another 30 hardcore servers opened up tonight. This dedicated server (if rented from EA) thing isn't as bad as I thought.

And don't be telling photon that he sucks in what is pretty much a completely different game than what you are playing.

Got to chime in here. I would love to see a console hero jump into a PC server with a bunch of clan guys and pwn. Not going to happen.

Yikes. You're a cocky MF aren't you? That said, I suck at these games. The only game I was half decent at was counter-strike but that was the last PC game I've played

That's part of the problem is I have no idea what servers are good and which aren't, and I end up on a n00b server where NO ONE calls out anything.. Wandering around and turn a corner and eat a round from a tank, with like 5 of my guys looking at it, no one's called it out.

Hardcore servers, are they actually different? Or just have a different name?

And the remote chopper, is its only weapon the missile? It had a gun in the single player game as well...

Some of my unlocks are screwed up. I unlocked the repair tool a couple nights ago and I can't use it. I went to my unlock progression bar and it shows an upgraded rpg as my next unlock. Sucks when I want to run up my score in the tank if I cant repair it.

In hardcore you have no aiming reticule and the bullets do more damage. There is also no radar to show where your teammates are on the map.

Ah ok, thanks.

Anyone else use that veteran.battlefield.com site and register their old games to get the M1 rifle? I did so, I can see it in my list of weapons before I go into a game, but I can't seem to use it while I'm actually playing..

EDIT: Actually I think I know what it is, on that Veteran site I've registered all the different games I've had in the past, but BFBC2 is greyed out so it doesn't know I have that game, and when I select the dropdown and choose that game nothing comes up to let me do something to associate that game..

PC Servers were down earlier today/late last night and are now back with an update - hopefully they get this figured out.

In hardcore, there is also no auto-heal.

No more console style just hide in a corner while your blurry/bloody vision clears up so it's more like traditional battlefield play...although that is problematic if there are no medics on your team as this game wasn't really designed around that mechanic. It's more realistic at least which I need to enjoy this game.

If you want to rack up points for unlocks, hardcore may not be the mode for you - that said, if you are very good at killing, you might just do very well in hardcore because it has more realistic damage and there is no healing so you will die from a single burst of shots.

I also forgot that there's no squad target tagging, which is pretty nasty.

Tagging guys is irritating me bad.

Sniper scope on a dude, hammering "select" and nothing.

needs to be remedied.
