LOL you obviously don't travel to the US much. Canadians party much harder than Americans and you can ask any US town/city near the Canadian border for confirmation. If the men's team win's gold it will have nothing to do with arrogance. They will win with skill and class as always.

Ya Americans are much worse drinkers, on average. If the US women's team won they'd be drinking bacardi breezers and passing out at center ice after a few sips

Knowing women's hockey players, I thought the celebration would head straight to the showers.

Still a 100%, disrepectful, bonafide, trailer trash move to do, especially with camera's present everywhere.
Even if it wasn't against City By-law, I wouldn't allow my beer league team to do this at the Frank Mccool Arena if no body was present save for the rink rat.

IIRC there was outrage on these very boards a few years back about the American women celebrating in their locker room and allegedly shredding the Canadian flag with skates while doing so.
So now women are condemned for celebrating in locker rooms and outside locker rooms.
guess they better find somewhere else to celebrate.

That's the key point most people are missing.
This wasn't done immediately after the medals were handed out with 15 000 fans still in the building. It was done in an empty arena.

You are comparing disrespecting another contries flag to drinking beer and cigars. Not exactly apples to apples there.

Cameras are present in the dressing rooms of MLB and NHL teams are they win their league. The MLB has gone as far as following the players in there after the game and getting live video, not just snapping a few photos.

But you perservered, and just like an NHL team, playing against a community college team, you ran up the score and stomped your opponents into an unrecognizable blood clot with unbelievable sportsmanship and class to get to the excitement of the final game we all predicted 4 years ago. It was an amazing tournament, with an exciting predictable climax, as my expecatations were exactly fullfilled. What an exciting event!
Seriously though, that was as embarassing as watching them run up the score 18 - 0. As much as I love the freebie Gold, this event has no place in the Olympics until more than 2 countries can compete. I love the gals, they compete so well in so many other events, but womens hockey is so full of fail compared to mens in every way.
If you enjoy what you see on the ice, then I implore you to visit your local arena and catch a AAA midget game. It is much faster, infinitely more skilled, and at least they hit.
|
My god man are you this mysogynistic in real life or just on the internet? These girls reached the pinnacle of their sport and should be just as proud as any stanley cup champion. Demeaning their sport is petty and something that I find classles, unlike celebrating with a couple beers.
Grow up

I am truly shocked that people are outraged over this. It probably wasn't the smartest decision but it was just athletes having a good time after a big win.

Disrespectful....to who?
I mean your seeming outrage at this is amusing to me considering that they did absolutely nothing to you personally...maybe you consider women celebrating the biggest athletic accomplishment of their lives something not worthy of being seen by the public, but then again, they did wait until that faction was out of the arena. The country of Canada was harmed in no way here...much like the country of the USA was harmed in no way with the snowboard guy getting a "kiss of the medal" between his legs.
Simply soaking in the whole thing with each other for a few minutes ON THE ICE (still not sure what that does to make this so much worse) seems perfectly understandable to me, even if a bit mis-guided considering the media was still around.

But with media present to ensure everybody knew about it... Just a whole lot over the top for a 1-game "championship run"... I don't know what it is that turns women so nasty when they travel in packs.

because it was never proven, yet there was viscious rhetoric thrown around that implied the entire country was the same way. Which it is not. It was stupid...much like this is.
