I can knock off the top team in the league, but I can't beat the Flamez to save my life.

It was frustrating taking 10 penalties and not getting one PP... but it must be equally as frustrating when your PP goes 0-10.

I think if I would have lost i'd be annoyed, but since I won it was more amuzing.
I have no idea how I keep beating you, you have a better team and especially goalie...just one of those things I guess?

Thanks, good luck to you too...though I'm more in it for the money
Don't really think I can beat anyone who I schedualed friendlies with, just hoping to get some cash flow to upgrade some facilities.

Edit: Especially because you're first in div II, and I'm last in div III!

Yeah that looks really good Kendal. Good game in soccer too, I'm surprised I was able to get it to extra time, though the Red Card didn't help my cause much...

And good game against the Rokkers too, seems quite a few of us here are pretty competitive in the div IV. Flamez won again today, 5-1 Smokies destroyed their opposition again 11-0 I think it was; I know it's early but I'm hoping to finish at least 6th as the top two teams in the league look scary, but the rest I can at least compete with...wouldn't be surprised if Chalms finishes 3rd the way his team is playing!

Yeah I'm 11-0-1-0-0 since being able to hit the market. Strong goaltending and scoring from all 4 lines have been my successes.

Haven't played the 2nd place team since I've been able to bolster my roster, so I'm not sure how that will work out. The top 4 teams have been on rolls too, so I don't see the standings changing too much. There's a definite drop off at 8th place, so if we can pad our stats then keep it close against the top teams, then we should be set to make the playoffs and hopefully get promoted.

Unless the Destroyers guy doesn't change his tactics (ie not go to normal or switch away from the one he keeps using), I think he'll be promoted. The second spot though is still open, my guess is either HC Wushu or you will get it...unless you play me in the playoffs haha

So is it the top 2 teams (in the playoffs) that get promoted?

I think the team that wins the playoffs gets automatically promoted, and the runner up has to play a promotion round against a bottom team from the league above.

That should be easy, since a lot of the bottom teams in League III are just as bad as the bottom teams in League IV.

Just trying to think of my strategy for the playoffs - the top 5 teams are pretty much set (I'm #5) and shouldn't change by season's end. 4th place team (my draw) is about equal to me in skill, but doesn't change tactics - should be an easy series win for me.

However, the #1 team is tough, which is who I would play in the next round. I should probably just play high priority every game vs. him and take it from there.

Good thing is, he plays every game w/ the same tactics as well.

Since being able to hit the market ive yet to lose a league game which is great as I am currently sitting in 9th spot. Im hoping to be sitting in a playoff spot after my next league game.

What is better to focus on better players or facilities?

I think it depends on if you want to win now, or build for the future. From what I've read, it's good to at least buy enough players to win in div IV, which really isn't too hard (as most of us are now getting into playoff spots). But personally I haven't invested more than 50k in a player, and am trying to build my major facilities to lvl 5.

I took the route of loading my roster now, then upgrading the facilities later.

You can get plenty of good players for under 200k. I only have 2 players that cost over 250k, and my main two goalies cost 140k and 50k each. Then once your roster is full, use your weekly revenues for facilities.

Teams that end up 13th to 16th play against the teams that came second in the division below. So you may or may not come across a team that actually sucks. In my first year I came across a noname so it was very easy for me to be promoted, but last year I came across a team called Le Royal, who was very good, and it took me 3 games to get promoted.

Just grab a couple players - you can build a really stacked roster for ~500k if you buy in the right days (not Wednesday) and the right times. A lot of good players at great deals tend to come on the market between 2-3 PM.

Hmm, so I got lit up today 8-2 against what I thought was an even (or worse) team...even though I had tactics and we were both on low. Could be a rough week, but can't see myself falling below 8th.

My next league game is against the guy who just stomped you. Looks like he was just able to hit the market, hence the unexpected results.

The only ratings he has higher than me is from his first line, which you shut down quite well. Offence is well balanced though on lines 2-4. I'll be in for a handful with him too.

I only lost 2-1 myself but the thing that really hurts is the guy had a horrible team. I should have beat him easy. I was on Low and he was on Normal and we were both using "breaking up of the play".

This was for 8th spot and a ticket to the playoffs. Ouch
