I'm getting to this very late (obviously) - what is the gist? Is this a pool type thing or using a fantasy game simulator, such as APBA? I see you need GMs, so, depending on the platform, I could be interested...

It's like CPHL, the one that's on this board. But since the wait list for that is forever, we just started a separate league. Right now all the GM positions are full but someone might be dropping out soon (due to time commitment) so if you're interested, you might be able to take his spot if he does drop out.

What is the CPHL like? Is it a fantasy pool league or a fantasy simulation league (i.e. APBA)?

The best way I could describe is, its like NHL10 Be a GM mode except with 30 real GMs and simulation.

Geez, you guys - making me do my own work. So, it uses the FHL simulator - gad, last played with that 16-17 years ago.

It actually uses the STHS Simulator, the main website hasn't been updated. A word of caution, if you guys are going to do a full-on SIM league the Commishes need to be willing to put in a lot of work, as do the GM's. We do our trading on MSN mainly but also via PM's, etc. It is an involved league and you need your GM's to be very active (expect at least 5hrs/week).

It's an absolute blast and I have met some great people on it, but it does take a significant chunk of time so you need to be willing to put that time aside.

How does STHS compare to APBA?

I think we have at this point about 10-15 very active guys, 5-10 fairly active but the rest probably forgot about the league/ dont care/ are busy - which are all fair. Except starting a league with them seems extremely frustrating. Its funny when you see people on CP but not on the league forums - making picks or voting in polls or whatever.

This is definitely the case. Like a lot of things in life you get out of it what you put in. I couldn't guess what the time commitment for the commissioners is, but it's got to be a lot. I would say that for some of the GMs in the CPHL to burn up 3-4 hours talking trades is nothing. For some of the least winningest GMs (who might even be typing this post!) we might take that long on one trade!

Bottom line is that it's a huge time commitment. It's definitely fun and while you can get away with less time spent it takes away from your enjoyment in my opinion.

I'm not really familiar with APBA but I can tell you that STHS allows you to do lines for both your NHL team and Farm team. There are also sliders so you can set how physical, defensive and offensive you want your team to play. Morale is also involved, but I don't even know the impact of that rating at this point.

It's a really in depth program and as far as I understand, it is the best NHL Simulator out there.

We are voting on whether or not to re-do the draft lottery tonight in a more transparent, hands-on way where everyone can contribute.

If we do choose to re-do it we will do it later today so get on and vote on the issue.

And yes, in the upcoming days we will have an activity check so we can weed out the GMs who aren't around. THen there will be some spots available immediately after which we will begin the draft.

I would like a spot or added to the list. Running a fantasy hockey team would be fun!

I dont think it would be a bad idea to add a few GMs to a waiting list, in case spome GMs are not active and can be replaced accordingly

Those of you who are interested in a spot on the waiting list, please go to the league site and sign up and ask for a spot on the waiting list. It's much easier than doing it on here.

A couple GM spots have opened up due to inactivity. We are just starting the coaches draft, so just in time!

Visit the site to claim a spot.

I know Rampage has requested any free team. Check the FFHL board.
