We talked to the Bottlescrew Bills about booking their back room and playing poker in it and apparently there is some law or bylaw about playing card games in a drinking establishment. Owner said he could lose his license. And if I remember correctly we couldn't even play go fish based on the thing.

I just talked to the Kilt and Caber.
So long as there is no collection of entry fees or disbursment of prize money on the premesis then its fair game.
Their back-room accomodates up to 75 people. For a $200 refundable damage deposit plus $75 for the bartender and its ours.
$3.95 bottles of Bud on Sundays plus happy hour from 2-7pm.
I'm still looking.

This is what I thought too, but I am ready to be told otherwise...
Why do we need to give $75 to the bartender - so he would sell us beer for $4?

Don't ask me, I'm doing the research. Not making the rules.
Still looking...

The bartender must be the same as the owner - he just wants to pocket some cash.

Well I for one am willing to step up to the plate and volunteer for the first night then.
May have to do with the fact that i am newly single and therefore am back to making my own rules.
However im only in a townhouse so though we could get two tables going they would have to be split up onto different levels.
Now all we need is everyones background checks, sin numbers, license plates and references and all will be ready to go!
Only other issue is i dont have tables that would accomodate 8-10 people per, so we may need people to bring theres if they have fold ups etc.

Well that is awesome. I'd definitely be up for playing some poker in a pub. Does their back-room have TV's?

My good friend does the accounting for the Backwoods (now St. Vivians Irish Pub) in McKenzie Lake (not Towne, where the Kilt is) and he is currently trying to swing us some magic there. Not as nice, but it would be a much better deal financially.

Just to update, I have heard back from 8 of 22 people on the email list, and 7 are in, so we have 10 or 11 confirmed. We are still looking for someone who can bring a folding table...

Update... Playing Saturday, Dec. 19 at Poison's at 8pm. We have 10 confirmed, so there is room for more, but we need a folding table (or I guess a regular one if you can transport it). Buy-in is $50 + BYOB + pizza money...

I think that we are at about 15. If you are going to ask a friend, the friend has to come with his own table , as 15 is about maximum capacity for Poison's existing furniture.

I was only suggesting that if we were in need of players. 15 is perfect
So that makes the pot $750. What is the breakdown for winner(s) and rake?
