Shepherd's pie is minced lamb with vegetables in gravy topped with mashed potatoes - Cottage pie is minced beef with vegetables etc, etc.
Ignore - just caught up on posts and saw the same description as above. Sorry!

Lamb, turnips, squash, fruitcake, lima beans, head cheese, sweet breads, any organ meat at all, tendon, feet from any animal (chicken feet or hog feet - seriously why would anyone want to eat a nasty filthy foot?), octopus, snails, gizzards or the dark meat from poultry.
Any soup that has fish eyes floating in it (I was served this kind of soup for breakfast when I was in Japan. I choked it down so I didn't offend my hostess).
Oh and that "snack" from the Philippines called "balut". I can't understand why anyone would (or could) eat it. It's a boiled fertilized egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside and eaten in the shell.
It's unlikely that I'll ever see one on my plate but I can't even look at pictures of it with out gagging.

Shredded coconut. Why anyone would injest something that resembles toenail clippings is beyond me.
And sardines or oysters. My husband and kids like them though, so there's usually some hanging around. It's the smell that gets me.

Reading this thread is making me hungry.
I can eat anything. Except bugs and reptiles maybe. But any bird, fish, vegetable, fungus (edible), mammal is fair game.
Oh yeah, that video of that guy eating the moving octupus (from Old Boy).. I've tried that, it's good.

It's a polish recipe involving lots of cabbage and involves being cooked for 1/2 a day or longer
Actually tasted delicious, but I got food poisoning so bad that to this day (7+ years later) I can't handle the smell of cooked cabbage. :-/

In maybe the first week of when I was doing a homestay in China, my roomies took me out to eat fish head soup. It was all pretty good until we had finished eating the meat off the skull and I was given the honour of biting through the skull and sucking the mucousy brain out of the cavity. I did it though.
It's true. I bit through that fish's skull and sucked out it's brain.

Personally I cannot eat cucumbers and watermelon. In fact, I can barely stomach food items that have merely brushed cucumbers. Keep them away from me. I also hate tequila because it makes me pass out and vomit, but I usually don't complain about it until the next day.
Other than that, though, living in Tokyo I'd hazard that I'm more adventurous and accommodating in terms of food compared than the average guy. Some really gross things I will never, ever eat again however are:
- Salted squid intestines (shiokara, to the locals).
- Natto (fermented soybeans). Sticky and gummy like mucous, smells like the inside of my trail hiking shoes. Trouble is my wife and daughters like it so I'm surrounded by it some mornings.
- Crickets in honey. Apparently this is a post-war poverty treat. You know, when people were starving. So I went to a party where this was the closer. I was so dead set against downing this crap that I went on a tirade about how everybody in the room showed up in nice cars, lives in nice (but small) houses/condos, and doesn't have to forage for insects. Made such a fuss they brought me green tea ice cream (yum)!
- Uni (sea urchin). Looks like sea poo. Kinda tastes like it to me, too. Expensive, and an acquired tasted so I'm not even going to bother.
- Kani-miso (crab brain) - Love the crab. Don't need the grey-green brain tho'. It also looks like poo. I guess I don't like things that look like poo.
I'm also not a big fan of guts and intestine, but I've probably downed this stuff without knowing so I guess it doesn't cut mustard for this thread. Going home to have dinner now. Hope it's not anything I listed above.

The one thing that I hate from childhood that I'll never give a second chance to is beets. I'll eat pretty much anything else. You freaks that dont like seafood, mushrooms, pickles, olives, and vagina are just plain wrong.

Something I can not eat - mustard.
DO NOT get a burger from the A&W in Strathmore. Doesn't matter if you say "Plain Burger", they're giving you one with mustard on it. The word "plain" means nothing to them.
It's because of this A&W that I'm now terrified to bite into any burger without giving it a thorough inspection first.

It seems you are not fit for dining in China. There is much worse than that to experience.
