The reffing in the game was abysmal. Portland got away with an incredible amount, not only away from the play, but right in front of the net too.
Hopefully the Hitmen and more specifically Jones can rebound from a bad weekend. 4 games over the next 7 days is not going to be easy for them - especially since all 4 games are divisional.

Anyone out west - watch this Portland team and tell me if they are usually as cheap and dirty as they were tonight. All kinds of hits away from the puck, diving that would embarrass the Canucks, some clown (22, I think) running around after the game was over trying to injure anyone he could find, and then a collective spoiled diaper as the final buzzer ended. I want the Winterhawks franchise to rebound, but the team did not earn any respect today.

Number 22 is Nino Niederreiter, a Swiss player. I'm going to subscribe to the "dirty Euro" stereotype, and assume that's why.

Haven't seen Portland yet this year, but the cheapest team I saw last year by far was Kelowna.

A friend of mine who went to my school "Taylor Peters" is on that team. He just said they were frustrated. Not usually that dirty.

That's good, though they need to get away from the hits away from the puck. The Winterhawks got away with it about four blatant ones before the officials finally started calling them on it. They got nailed for that twice late, and got scored on twice late. It cost them the game.

I had a few words for Klein as he entered the tunnel after the 2nd. He didn't exactly appreciate my reminding him that the rules are supposed to be the same for both teams.

Hitmen beat the Rebels by the same score as the Flames beat the BJ. 6-3. Scary this close to Halloween. BOO!

This was a really good game with the score at 2-2. The Rebels were holding their own against a tough Hitmen team. Then referee Pat Smith decided that he wanted in on the action and ruined a good matchup. Fiddler blatantly ran Cowen from behind into the boards with Smith looking right at the play. Deagle took exception and roughed Fiddler up, rightly so. He ends up getting a double minor for his trouble (it warranted a minor) while Fiddler ended up with nothing. Coach Wallin argued the call as you would expect and got riled up resulting in an additional minor. The Hitmen scored two goals on the 5 on 3 and another right after while the Rebels were rattled. Game over.
I absolutely hate it when the officiating ends up deciding the game, whether my team benefits or not. This was a good hockey game completely wrecked by an incompetent official. The Hitmen are a really good team already, they really don't need the help. I'm willing to bet that even uber Hitmen fan, Resolute 14, will understand where I'm coming from here.
I don't mind losing to a great team like Calgary but not in this fashion...

lol. Guess the league owed us after Klein's performance on Sunday.
And yeah, it sucks when the officials start to make goofy calls that change the game.
Speaking of which, I haven't seen Herman or Savage yet. Have we finally gotten rid of those two clowns?

I have found the officiating in 3 of the 4 Calgary home games to be not quite what I would expect. Guys at this level should be able to show some sort of proficiency shouldn't they?
I won't be able to attend the game because of a class tonight, so GO HITMEN GO!
And Resolute, if the refs suck as much again tonight...give'em hell from me too!

Herman reffed Prince George/Seattle on Saturday, Savage worked Spokane/Kootenay on Friday last week.

Well they look much better than last night in Red Deer, they are moving their feet better tonight. Some of the passing on the power plays has been unbelievable, they just couldn't finish.

It is only 1-0, the Hitmen are all over the Oil Kings and the Kings call a TO.
