Yup, I 've driven both. How is it different? Just the differential lock that I can think of. If anything, that would make braking a little bit less safe. due to not quite as much control.

I'm not mechanical, so I don't know the details involved that way, but I find I have way more control when braking in 4WD compared to just 2WD. I feel like a curling rock when braking in 2WD, but in 4WD things come to a stop quite easily. The only thing that I find worse in 4WD is tight corners, but those can be a bit challenging in 2WD too if things are icy.

Braking in a 2WD drive truck in winter is a lot like throwing the dice.
I am most definitely investing in a conversion from rear drums to discs. I'll do the work myself. The difference is like night and day.

So, is that it for the Winter Warning weather or are we going to get more? Based on the weather reports that is. I am not asking anybody to predict the future.

Only way 4WD would brake better is if you're downshifting. Then you've the engine helping all 4 wheels slow down safely instead of just locking up the tyres and sliding.
If its just brakes, 4wd and 2wd are identical kthnxbye

What you say makes perfect sense but!
I have 08 escape full time 4x4, my GF has an 07 escape 2WD. Maybe I'm dreaming but her SUV is a nightmare compaired to mine braking on snow/ice. I say and she says it..not sure why.
BTW this little beast is better than my 04 f-250 in snow and ice, quite amazing actually.
PS..what the hell is a kthnxbye? newfie french for "by thanks"?

It's usually how teenage girls say "okay, thanks, bye" on the internet.

Warp engines
Delorean
can't remember what those Star Wars fighters are called
KITT
General Lee
Transformers
If that 53 is what I think it is, it doesn't belong.
ps, I think that they've used Bender's leg in the hover-conversion.

Why wouldn't Herbie belong?

Because he's not in the same league as The Delorean, The Enterprise, and The General Lee.
Heck, KITT, Transformers and the Star Wars fighter barely belong. Herbie? What did he ever do? Float? Call me when he travels through time or jumps a moving train. Edit* or he can destroy a Romulan Warbird to join the cool kids club.

+1
It's embarrassing that the Aussie is explaining to all you Canadians how braking works in snow. If you honestly think you are going to stop faster because you have four-wheel drive please, please, PLEASE go back to driver's ed or at least take a physics class. You're going to get somebody killed thinking that.
