Ahh.

12,000 last night to see the Hitmen win their 9th in a row, 6-1 over Prince Albert. Now another week to wait for the next game...

Brett Sonne has taken over the scoring lead with 39 points, though two players right behind him have a pile of games in hand. Hitmen now ranked 4th in the CHL, Vancouver 5th and Saskatoon 10th. No idea how we are ranked ahead of the Giants though.

Thoughts for Bruins forward Jadon Potter, had a hard collision into the end boards in Chilliwack last night, apparently was down for upwards of 30 minutes with a possible broken vertebrae in his neck... Scary stuff.

Yikes!

The WHL website has some good news though. He's going to be in a neck brace for the next two months, but they found no damage to his spinal cord and is expected to make a full recovery.

Karl Alzner was recalled by the Capitals today, and will make his NHL debut tonight. He will become the 22nd Hitmen alumnus to play in the NHL.

Hitmen win their 10th in a row although it must have been a wild and crazy game. 9-7 Hitmen over the Broncos. Reminder-Teddy Toss is this Sunday.

Hitmen gave up 7 goals... on just 14 shots against.

In fact, from the start of the second period on, Swift Current had 7 shots on goal - and scored 5 goals.

What a complete gong show, oh man.

I'm not sure it's ever happened before where a team gave up 7 goals on 14 shots and won. Just crazy. Calgary came back from 2-0, 3-2, 5-3 and 6-5 deficits.

The flow of the game was ridiculous. After the 10 minute mark, Calgary dominated much of the night, but then one breakdown, or one heads-up play by the Broncos ended up in our net. The goalies weren't good last night, but at the same time, Jones faced a 2 on 0 breakaway and a 3 on 1 that turned into another 2 on 0 in the second period.

And, of course, with Savage and Skilleter out there, the officiating was a complete mess. Players getting tackled, hooked and held all over the place without calls. The Broncos threw a hissyfit after Calgary scored their 5th that somehow led to the Hitmen taking the extra two. So Swift Current threw another hissyfit after Calgary tied it at 6. Fortunately, Skilleter made the right calls that time, and the Hitmen took the lead on the powerplay.

It just seems like this team simply won't be denied. For only their second game in two weeks, they have managed to maintain the momentum.

18,000 fans, 22,000 bears, and a 4-1 victory for our 11th consecutive win.

I'll have some pictures and a video at some point. Prolly a couple days.

The Teddy Bear toss was a lot of fun. Next year, I have to switch my tickets to the lower bowl for that game. I am surprised that the number of stuffed toys is lower than last year (by about 4,000). I brought four myself and the person with me brought about the same number. With the number of people that brought multiples, there must have been quite a few that didn't bring any.

The only thing that would have made it better (other than breaking the record for number of stuffed toys) is if the Hitmen would have scored one more goal and give everyone in the building a free burger.

More sad news this weekend, former Blazers and 'Canes goalie Michael Maniago died in a car accident in Calgary. Condolences to the family...

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. They had a moment of silence in his memory last night. A really awful tragedy.

How long of a delay is it to clear the ice?

Also, looking at the pictures, the benches look empty. Do they take an intermission break?

Last year in Lethbridge it took about 15 minutes to clear away all the bears.

The Canes helped clear the ice and then went into the dressing room for about 5-8 minutes, the opposition went to the room right away.
