Queen's students have jackets representing their respective faculties and is a tradition.
Applied Science students (engineers) have jackets that they get and slam after their first set of final exams in December. They dye them purple (colour representative for the faculty) and slam continuously until all the engineers slam in unison or until they get tired. Their jackets are called GPA's (Golden Party Armour). The jackets are naturally yellow/gold and fade back to that colour after the purple fades with wear and slamming.
Slamming is something engineers just do :P

(O yah, they also climb a huge pole (a football upright stolen from U of T) covered in lanolin grease to grab a tam at the top. Engineers have weird traditions here!)
