Not entirely true.

Reynolds got the part because he's REALLY wanted to play Deadpool since about 2003. There were countless rumours linking him to playing the character in a Deadpool movie before this movie came along.

Truth be told, I don't think anyone else can play the character.

Honestly the movie needed more Wade Wilson.. when it was Deadpool, great fight scene, but Reynolds really shines when he can talk

I could have done with less Will I Am and more Wade Wilson.

As for Magneto, ya I knew about that, but I am curious for Wolverine what is next.. if they will try to bring all of this together for a new X-Men movie, or if they will just start fresh..

Yeah agreed. I guess they're just lucky that the guy who is perfect for the role has also proven he can carry a movie by himself

I don' t think anyone said Reynolds was wrong as Wade Wilson, In fact it is perfect. What we're ashamed of is how they frakked up the Deadpool portion from what we are familiar with.

In the Deadpool portion of the movie, he is clearly still Weapon XI.

It may not follow the exact origin in the comics, but I don't really so how it affects the possibility of bringing Deadpool back as a character close the source material.

I know, I know. I just wish we should have had our actual Deadpool movie back in 2003 that was closer to the source material. Thats all.

If there's a spin-off it will be closer to the source material.

Just got back from seeing it. Thought it was quite slow for a lot of the movie. But the AI and action scenes were excellent. Would have hoped for more Reynolds, but oh well. Hoping now they make a Deadpool spin-off movie.

For the folks who read the comic's, is Deadpool supposed to have all the other mutant's powers? Because when I read the wikipedia on him (some of it), it didn't say.

Thought Sabretooth should have had long hair, like in the first X-Men movie, and like the comics.

I know in the comics that Deadpool is disfigured somehow, and I thought it had something to do with giving him Wolverine's healing powers. Can someone clarify what actually happens to Deadpool in the comics?

In the comics the only power he has that is displayed in the movie is the healing abilities on par or better than Wolverine.

In the comics he gets disfigured by submitting to Weapon X after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. They put the healing power in him, but it didn't quite stick and put all of his cells in a constant state of regeneration, so even if he's not hurt, his body is dying and regenerating which is why he looks why he does.

He was also put through a number of experiments by Dr. Killbrew

Edit- I forgot one thing. The major reason that Deadpool's healing powers are actually better than Wolverine's is because he had a spell placed on him by Thanos to keep Deadpool away from Death (female in the marvel universe).

Death and Deadpool fall in love during the tortures and experiments in Weapon X (where Deadpool came close to dying and saw Death every day). Thanos becomes jealous of Deadpool, wanting Death's affection and makes it so Deadpool can never die, keeping him away from Death forever.

Movie was entertaining, but yeah Deadpool got effed up. Like pretty much all superhero movies it needed to be 18A not PG13. It was actually pretty cheesy at a few parts and they could have toned it down and made it a solid flick.

No better or worse than any of the X-men movies or Spiderman flicks (except 3) or the Hulk movie or Iron Man.

In fact it was such standard fare I'm surprised I'm not more disapointed but I'm so used to the cookie cutter superhero movie. They are always lacking on story, heavy on cheesiness and too kids oriented for my liking.

Ever since Blade the comic book movies have never been dark enough, or more accurately adult enough. An 18A Wolverine movie could have been amazing, especially if they didn't mess up the characters.

Deadpool and Gambit were both kind of lame, except DP's 2 min part at the beginning.

If they do make a Deadpool origin movie it HAS to be 18A and HAS to star Ryan Reynolds.

All in all though I'm really not surprised with Wolverine but these major superhero movies need to have special edition not made for children or director's cuts or something because I'm getting tired of all the flicks, including TDK to a certain extent, that are made for kids but are really for adults.

Just saw the film today and really enjoyed it. It won't win an Oscar but neither will Conan, Iron Man, Transformers or Batman.

The Academy awards begs to differ. And Iron Man was way better than most of the superhero movies, it is way better than the X-Men and Spiderman movies.

Yeah it wasn't nearly that good. I went in with really low expectations, and was presently surprised.

On par with superhero movies like Blade II, X-men etc..

My sons are clamoring to go to this one but I'm thinking a rental. Star Trek at the movies next methinks.
