Bell has been a LOT better lately about not fataing up simsubs. So the issue of shows being cut off is pretty much non-existant.

And like Hoot I pretty much PVR any of my network TV shows, so it's really only during the NFL season that I notice them.
Not on Monday night. It was terrible.

I PVR 'Big Bang Theory', 'How I Met Your Mother', '2 1/2 Men', and 'Rules of Engagement' and then watch them later. Last night, there were about 6 simsubbing errors. The last part of Big Bang Theory was trounced by the ending of '2 1/2 men', the first part of '2 1/2 Men was trounced by some CTV commercials, and then the last part of '2 1/2 Men' migrated into the start of 'Rules of Engagement'. I finally downloaded all of them so that I could catch all the punchlines.

It is hard to say if it is Bell that messes this up, or CTV. Regardless, Sim Subbing is awful.

Yeah...simsubbing sucks and audio dropouts suck...really, which one is worse?

Simsubbing makes my blood boil and is CONSTANT. Audio dropouts are not always constant.

That is why I chose what I chose. For those dealing with audio dropouts, call and complain as much as you can.

I would also point out that other providers, such as Bell, are not immune to audio dropouts. BEV supporters make it sound like it's only Shaw that has problems with audio. That isn't the case.

As much as I hate simsubbing, I can handle a somewhat lesser video image and maybe no 5.1 sound for the plus of actually hearing the show. Plus there's not much in primetime that I watch that actually needs 5.1 if CTV or Global screws up.

Plus I think it's a shame the CRTC is ignoring complains on simsubbing. I remember I complained to them before I even knew what the term was...
I dislike the overcompressed HD of Shaw, but the dropouts are not the fault of Shaw(for once) but the source at Fox Seattle.

I have a question about Shaw. I am with them now, but want the HD service (I never called), but I really don't want to spend 650 bloody dollars on a PVR. Is there any suggestions on how I could get them to give it to me for a discount/free/etc.? I am planning on threating to leave for BEV, and then will ask what they can do for me.

What have other people done/gotten them to do? Thanks! I really want to get HD before the playoffs start.

Shaw most likely has some sort or promo or "trade-in". Give them a call and see what they offer.

Visions has them on for $550 right now. But to do a successful "I'm going to leave" you have to do your homework. Call Telus and get all the details from them. Then give Shaw a call and tell them Telus is offerring you X to switch both TV and internet over.

Shaw Objections and your responses:

Shaw- Telus internet is slow.
You- I mostly surf and email, so I really only need a couple of MB/s

Shaw- Telus will make you sign a contract.
You- It's only $120 to get out of the contract, and Telus is giving me enough free months to start that it would offset that even if I wanted out.

Shaw- Telus PQ is terrible. (And it is)
You- I looked at it at a friend's house; he has the same TV as me. Looks just fine to me.

Shaw- Telus requires a box for each TV.
You- So does Shaw, because most of the channels I watch are the digital ones above channel 55.
