Lifetime Suspension

I'd try and band together a group of buff, psychotic and tempermental 15-35 year olds and rule the new world with an Iron fist: looting, pillaging, killing, raping, baby eating, monkey knife fights, whatever it takes to keep our bellies full and maintain a base level of maddening fear in the local populace.
Its going to happen eventually, might as well get ahead of the game, and re-shape the world around me based on my own demented, short term ambitions. I'd probably have to start a new religion and make my self a god so none of the underlings gets uppity and eats my brain.

Ha ha. That's what I was thinking too. It doesn't even sound dangerous. No poisons, copper lines, exploding stills or nothing.

One ounce of 90% isn't much more than a double of regular booze, but it can sneak up on you pretty fast. It's an easy way to get "Loser Drunk" and must be approached with extreme caution. Probably better off using it to clean the bathtub if you aren't a rummy with a high tolerance.

I think there was another thread about my adventures with Alcool (pure alcohol from Quebec) used to make the Purple Jesus.

It would appear there's a whole Society dedicated to this cause - Primitive Living:
http://www.primitiveways.com/index.html
Sound like the major things to address are:
Food
Water
Clothing
Fire
Shelter
Tools
Clothing
Health
That said, if the only people able to survive the apocalypse are ones that look like this - FireFly may want to reconsider her offer of sexual favors....

I think I can safely put myself in the useless category on this one.
I can build a fire, a lean to, fish and gather berries but I've been thinking about how I can put together a large enough food supply to bring Firefly over to camp but I've got nothing.
Looks like beatings and being beer marinated are in my future. Woo Hoo

Can you actually drink the stuff? It has warnings on it not to consume it straight.

Well I made the mistake of doing so... straight. Yeah... got the ambulance that night...
Although it could have been the JD, tequilla, hypnotic, vodka, sambuca, etc. Mix a bad day with a shot contest and being young.

You know, Stephen King nailed it with his characterizations in The Stand. Some of you are scaring the beejeebes out of me here!
We've got Tron as Stu Redman, Firefly as Frannie Goldsmith, the Captain as Randall Flagg, sorry Rouge but you're Harold Lauder, 4x4 as Nick Andros, Bring Back Shantz as Larry Underwood, fotze as Trashcan Man. It's all here, we don't stand a chance.
I'm running to the hills......

Ooh, I just remembered that I have two other valuable skills... First, I can make and use a sling. Actually fairly accurately. So you guys with guns don't scare me.
Second, I can catch a gopher with a snare. It's actually kinda fun. Well, it used to be, back in the day. But gophers on strings are fun. And we'll need fun, sorta like when they played golf on Lost. That would have been me suggesting that we play golf while stranded.

Does Stu Redman get to kill stuff? I'm all over it if that's the case. If there's guns, explosions and fire I'm there.

You don't happen to live on selkirk drive do you?!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of an
explosion in the 100 block of Selkirk Drive S.W shortly
before 19:00 hours this evening. After an initial
investigation, crews found a detached garage with some
structural damage due to an explosion. The large overhead
door of the garage had been blown off into the neighbors yard
and some damage was also apparent with-in the structure
itself. Initial investigations revealed that the occupant of
the home may have been experimenting with a home made
moonshine set up when it exploded. Calgary Police are
investigating and have yet to confirm the set up. No injuries
were noted. The Fire Departments confined space team was
requested to help ensure that the structural stability of the
garage was not compromised. The Fire Department reminds
Calgarians that it is not safe to experiment with flammables
or explosives and should be avoided at all times.

Ok here's how useless I am...
Today I lost control of my car (I was not speeding, believe it or not, and I was going well under the speed limit and actually driving mostly safe...) and I smoked a curb (and some grass, and almost a fence!)
Now my front wheels for sure, and maybe the back (is this possible?) are mis-aligned. With the car going straight, the steering wheel pulls to one side slightly. How bad is it for my car if I drive it around for a few days before taking it in?
Anyone know the usual maintenance schedule for cars? What should I get done at 75k?

To answer the question originally posed, I think I would do alright, I know how to use a firearm and have access to a few rifles/ammunition and know where I could get a couple of handguns if push came to shove.
Past that I do a lot of backpacking and I have a few pairs of combat boots which would serve me well in the future as well as clothing which is designed for the outdoors. Past that I also have a water purifier so while the rest of you have beaver fever and are at the latrine, I can steal your supplies and ensure my survival, all while having my pick of mountain girls who will be impressed by my ability to survive.

Those mountain girls may look a little more like Bigfoot and less like the Kokanee girls.
