I've got 'Complete Greatest Hits'. Pretty damn good CD. I love the song 'For Lovin Me'. Pretty funny. Stay Loose is awesome too. There are 20 songs on this CD. I have a habit of tossing it in my deck and letting it run for days and days.
Well, Wreck of the Edmunds Fitzgerald is on "Gord's Gold, Volume II", which absolutely sucks other than 'Wreck'. On the other hand, "Gord's Gold, Volume I" is one of the best Canadian albums ever. Actually, my might be able to drop the "Canadian" off that last sentence.
Yes it is.
It kills me that I don't have Wreck on CD. Might actually buy that one from itunes.
Used to have it on a 45 when I was 7!

Agreed - I actually bought his box set and it's just fantastic - yeah there are some misses in there but on the whole - just a great collection of great songs.
"The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" lasts exactly six minutes longer than the actual sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. It's poo.
Clearly you've not paid any attention to the song...
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the gales of November came slashing
When afternoon came it was freezing rain
In the face of a hurricane West Wind
When supper time came the old cook came on deck
Saying fellows it's too rough to feed ya
At 7PM a main hatchway caved in
He said fellas it's been good to know ya.
The Captain wired in he had water coming in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when his lights went out of sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
This song is so bad, I'm surprised it doesnt get more airplay on 98.5.
Not that there is anything wrong if you like this kind of stuff....

There are many songs I get sick of hearing but Last Kiss pained me from the first line.

Anything by Tom Cochrane and/or Red Rider...especially "Life is a Highway" and "Big Leagues". Anything by Fergie. Oh you can spell? Congratulations on completing the fifth grade, whore!
As a radical departure from the rest of Reed's catalog, Metal Machine Music is generally considered to be either a joke, a grudging fulfillment of a contractual obligation, or an early example of noise music.
"I was serious about it. I was also really, really stoned."
According to Reed (despite the original liner notes), the album entirely consists of guitar feedback played at different speeds.
This week on a very special edition of All Songs Considered ... guitarist, actor, writer (and former blogger) Carrie Brownstein returns. She joins us, along with NPR Music's Stephen Thompson, to do something we don't normally do: Talk about the songs we really, really don't like.
Our mission at All Songs is to bring you our favorite musical discoveries of the week. But after Stephen wrote his column examining Starship's widely reviled hit single "," we watched the comments pour in like an out-of-control fire hose, and got to talking about all the songs that drive us bonkers. It was so much fun we decided to continue the discussion here, with a look at some of the contenders for worst songs of all time, and why they stick in our craw. These are the relentless earworms — the songs you can't escape once they're in your head — or the annoying novelty songs. "," anyone? We also look at songs that take themselves too seriously, songs we used to love until they were ruined by a bad personal experience and more.
