That's a pretty big "if"...even now the extremists see the US as foreign occupiers (rightly or wrongly)...I am not a big believer in any domino theory however - didn't happen in Vietnam and I don't think it'll happen in the Middle East (I hope I am wrong, but I just can't see it).
If Iraq is going to be used as a base to project american power in the Middle East - thus allowing the US to move out of Saudia Arabia - I don't see an end to a continuing insurgency...ad infinitum...
