Can I be happy but also complain at the same time? Let me have that. It isn't the end of the world if they lose but also great they seem so be showing some glimpses of goodness. Not no-goodness. We could have a superstar and still be junk like someone up north. That would suck.

Ok, but that's not the way lotteries usually work.
But 3 v 4 (or 5-6) isn't some big deal in this case anyway.

Last game vs the Panthers, as a joke I said that NHL should enstore a mercy rule that when Flames score the 4th goal, game immediately ends.
I submitted my request and it happened. Mercy rule was applied yesterday.

Well, Parekh was already a top 10 pick (9OA). And two D picked just after him are ahead of him in points (and games). But one picked ahead of him (Yakemchuk) hasn't played at all. I suspect he stays about the same.
Gridin? It's pretty early to make this call. Who would drop out of the top 10 for Gridin? Only Lindstrom, Yakemchuk, Silayev and Iginla haven't played. Everyone who has aside from Parekh has more points than Gridin. Though he's played half the games of Catton, who is only one point ahead. I do like how Gridin looks - he doesn't seem like a rookie.

Great win! You shouldn't be too concerned with finishing in 2nd or 6th. Go run the simulator, it just doesn't matter. I seem to have more 5th or 6th place teams getting the 1st overall pick anyways, and many many times the 1st and 2nd teams get bumped down.
Happy with wins, happy with losses.

The first and second teams are likely to be bumped. No one has positive odds of winning the lottery. But the rest of the contestants combined have better odds than the 1 and 2 seeds.

I think in three year's time he's likely a top ten redraft by my list inspection.

Sure, which is why I said potential. That goes with Wolf, Gridin, and Parekh. Point is that these guys are showing themselves to be a future part of the core, full-stop. Not that they are or definitely will be. Absolutely nothing wrong with being excited about the youngsters.

You honestly can't be mad about that win. Oh no, our two young goalies are good, and our two rookie defenders did well. And our teenage forward made an elite play to the guy we got for a 7th that is wildly over exceeding expectations. And the other two rejects we got scored a goal and led the team in TOI.
Dropping down a spot in the draft is immaterial compared to prospects developing and our management team seemingly very good at spotting under appreciated players.
And like is Frost/Coronato/Gridin a thing? Yes please

If you dont think Wolf has won games for the Flames, I dont know what else to tell you.
Gridin literally assisted on the game winning goal last night.
I could go on about the others, but thats really not going to change your opinion anyway.
I hope you've rested a bit and realized how silly this was. Sometimes people (including me) get so fixated on their own narratives that obvious things get pushed to the background. This was an obvious one.

That Gridin kid really is something else. Gridin - Frost - Coronato line has some real chemistry and has been buzzing since they were put together. This team might actually have a top line. That's pretty exciting.

I thought your take was totally reasonable, even if someone might not agree with it. Not sure why it received such an emotion and combative reaction.

Am I happy they are winning? No
Am I going to get upset about it? Nope
Management did what they could to ensure this team would lose games by moving Andersson, Kadri, and Weegar.
And now guys like Gridin, Parekh, Bryzstewicz, are playing well and helping them win games.
Guys like Strome, Whitecloud, Olofsson (I'd sit him lol), and Maatta have played really well as cap dumps.
Talent wise the team shouldnt' be winning, but they are outworking teams, and as a fan you can't really be mad about that because building a culture of strong work ethic is still important.

They've been good, but I suspect a true 1C would elevate that line even more. I don't think Frost will ever be that. If the Flames end up picking 4th-5th, maybe Bjork or Malholtra could be that 1C. They should add another top pick in the 2027 draft. Between Malholtra/Bjork, Reschny, Potter, Gross/Castagna, and their 2027 1st, the Flames could have their centre position finally sorted by 2029/30. The wingers are already coming together, with Gridin, Coronato, Wyttenbach, Stockselius, Honzek, and Mews. Goaltending is looking good, so the other position to address is top pairing LD.

Conroy has some tough decisions to make between now and next season. Frost/Strome (probably keep one and trade the other), Maatta/Whitecloud (same), Olofsson (sign and hold for trade bait or just let him go), when to move Coleman, do you sign any of Beecher, Lomberg, Othmann, Stromgren, Kirkland, Kerins, etc.

Depends if the references is to Ace Bailey, former NHLer and LA Kings scout, who was in one of the 9/11 planes like you said.
or
Ace Bailey, the Hockey Hall of Fame inductee whom the first all-star game was held for.
or
Ace Bailey, selected 5th-overall in the NBA draft.
