Yeah, leaving is a breeze.
In Shazam's defense, upon arrival, unless you have a friend picking you up you have to use the stupid LAX-it to get an Uber/Lyft or wait for the hotel/rental car shuttle.
But they are in the midst of a multi-year project which will hopefully solve that and reduce the traffic in the LAX loop.

You'd rather take one than wait for this thing to go all the way around the loop, especially as I only use T2/T3.
If you're traveling light from T1 it's faster to just walk over there for most people.

Ghost decaling and making police harder to spot... really trying to win the hearts and minds of the public, huh.
1. Visibility itself *is* a crime deterrent.
2. Maybe trying to make yourself the invisible watcher isn't the best idea for law enforcement which -- as an institution -- has pretty negative public relations.
First it was the intimidation play with the American-style colour scheme, now ... wait, anyone else getting deja-vu?

What a waste of time and money to have them camping out on Airport Trail waiting for people to go 80 kmh. There can't be any bad things going on in town if that's the best use of their time.

We need some of the PR antagonists from Edmonton down here. Maybe they could pull over and start cleaning the dirt off the decals with a rag and some foaming cleaner.

No “drive safe” signage that I saw. It was a different vehicle than normal, with its hazards on, and for a second I actually wondered if it was someone just broken down or pulled over right in the spot the photo radar guys usually are. But then I realized it was just a different PR vehicle, I actually was flashing my lights at the poor guy in front of me hoping he would realize and slow down, but then the big flash from the PR SUV went off.

It's not wasting anyone's time, it's not a police officer that operates the photo radar

Oh, I thought they were hiding out there pulling people over. I also thought photo radar was illegal in Alberta...?

Nope photo radar is still legal, just a few conditions and tweaks to how it’s performed

LAX needs a proper rental car center like pretty much every other airport instead of all the car rentals being on their own. It is a ####ty setup there.

LAX is building an absolutely massive centralized car rental facility, biggest on the planet. It's been partially open since October.

We should make Police go back to horseback! Who gave these guys cars in the first place anyways?

It doesn't exist yet. That's what the construction is for.

To clarify, the facility is open and Avis (+ Zipcar) have been operating out of it for a while. National will move in soon.

Back to the topic of police cars and fishing holes, I thought I read somewhere that the province forced the police to back off from Stoney, but the past couple of weeks I saw police pulling cars over on Stoney on 3 separate occasions. What's up with that?

It isn’t legal for them to operate an unmarked PR vehicle. I would have reported it if I had caught it on my dashcam… although it might just be that the drive safe signage only has to be on the rear and left side of the vehicle (since it won’t target vehicles to the right of it) so it’s possible since you were exiting northbound you passed it on the right side.

No, the province prohibited photo radar on ring roads (and now numbered provincial highways entirely as of April 1). As of right now, only police cruisers can enforce speed limits on ring roads.

That's true, the Conrac is partially open, but the APM is not operating yet.
