He will likely never be worth $10M but if he can play as strong defensively as he did tonight, while also chipping in offensively, then at least he's contributing positively.

And he has been doing that for most of the season TBH.
Yeah, that was piss poor analysis by Cali on that one. fantastic game by Huberdeau, can't see how you could see it any other way unless you're trying to see it a different way (which many fans are these days).

I feel like that Mantha pass back to Huberdeau for the goal is being underrated. Fantastic pass from a guy that I expected to put a half ass shot on net in that situation, but he made a phenomenal pass.

Kuzmenko is a really good finisher, and Huberdeau is a good setup man, but I think they still need somebody who works better in the middle.

If this team face-plants hard this season and drafts one of those top centre prospects in June, that will fill their biggest hole. They could improve in a hurry. Till then, this power play is liable to look ugly for long stretches.

Having Huberdeau and Kuzmenko pass back and forth behind the net worked for a bit but it’s been figured out. We have no threat of a shot and take away 2 shooters. Kuzmenko needs to make himself a threat to bring the puck out.

The other issue is we only have 1 unit with skill the other unit is a PK and they both even PP time. When PP is struggling and only gets 45 seconds it’s not enough time to build their confidence again.

Kuzmenko is kind of useless if he is not producing offensively

Nice “stick to it” kind of win tonight. With getting the shut out, I wonder who gets the start on Sunday now, they’ve been pretty much alternating to this point.
Team tank was pretty vocal during the game, dead quiet now. As an aside, I wonder how many of the tank team goes to the games?

I found myself wanting the linesmen to come in and stop that. You like your guy to win a fight, but you don’t want the other guy to get seriously hurt.

It was rough, but he had a foot on him and forced the fight because of a clean hit. I don’t think the linesmen expected that fight to go that way either and were surprised.

But damn Lomberg has sure worked his ass off to be where he is. Chain Costco to him to show what it takes.

Jiri is dead on, we really need to curb the bait posts on here. This is a great community with great discussion but I hate the bait posts.

I was kind of thinking that as well. Refs should have jumped in quicker. But the New Jersey guy did nothing to defend himself. If you’re going to come to the defence of your team mate against your opponents energy guy. Don’t lead with your face. Not sure what that guy was thinking.

Where do those who have mastered the art go then? You want them to stay at home and just engage themselves?

I thought Barrie had his best game of the season. You could tell he was trying things to impact the game and it mostly worked. I bet he stays in for a second look in a row for the first time this season.

As car as the Lomberg fight went, buddy wanted to challenge and found out. Not much the refs could do and they did jump in as fast as they could have without eating a Lomberg left themselves.

Lombergini definitely taught Mr Bastian a good life lesson that wont be forgotten.

I think the refs didn’t jump in earlier due to the sheer size differential. Usually they are quick to jump in when the larger player gains an early upper hand, but it is so rare it goes the other way I think there was just a few moments of awe and honestly waiting for Bastian to do something rather than stand there like a speed bag.

Pretty simple solution to the fighting issue and risk of concussion, if you don’t want to (or are unable to) fight don’t drop the gloves. Bastian decided he wanted to be an enforcer of the unwritten code, and as such there are consequences.

I frankly don’t understand what the whole issue is with this.
