Listening to the Bill Simmons podcast and it really drives home how much Dallas f’ed up here. Sold way short.

Luka probably would have returned the biggest trade return ever if they properly shopped him.

This feels like Dallas fixated on Davis and ignored any rationale thought.

Doncic v Lebron drama is going to be fun to watch until the Lakers end up moving Lebron... Can't have 2 Kings in the house

Trading LeBron now would be the smartest thing they can do. This is clearly a punting on this season trade to get Luka long term, so cash in LeBron to OKC or Cleveland for a huge haul and set yourself up great for the Luka era.

If David Stern were alive, he would have vetoed this.

If David Stern were alive he would never let the NBA get to a place where ratings would fall 50%, he would have cooked up something long before it got to this point.

Not sure either team wants to tinker with their current flow. Only place I see Lebron agreeing to is GSW. There's a few ways to make the money match up...hard to see a sensible fit for both teams, but maybe with a 3rd team involved. The fun thing now is that fantasy trade proposals don't actually have to make sense!

Mavs down 50 right now just to add to their fans misery.

Raps win again!

Must be taking a break from their tank. Nice to see, even if it hurts their draft position.

Win or lose though, at least they're playing much better ball and are semi-fun to watch right now.

Interestingly there's a report that Cuban wasn't kept abreast of the Doncic trade. Certainly sounds like a money situation, which is crazy. Top 5 player in the league and they don't think he's worth a supermax? The whole thing is ridiculous. Akin to the Raps getting nothing for Vince Carter to some degree. The kings ransom they could've received if he hit the open market would be insane. Instead they got aging AD. It's truly a mind boggling decision.

The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a trade to send De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs and acquire Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine as part of a three-team trade involving multiple draft picks, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Sunday.

The move gives San Antonio an All-Star guard to pair with young phenom Victor Wembanyama after Fox, who has one more year remaining on his deal after this season, had not shown a willingness to commit long term to Sacramento, leading to the Kings opening up trade talks for the franchise star in the past week.

In exchange for Fox, the Kings receive LaVine, in the midst of a career year at age 29; Spurs guard Sidy Cissoko; three first-round picks (2025 Charlotte pick, 2027 San Antonio and 2031 Minnesota); and three second-round picks (2025 Chicago, 2028 Denver and a return of their own 2028 second-round pick from Chicago).

The Bulls get back control of their 2025 first-round pick from San Antonio as well as three players: Zach Collins and Tre Jones from the Spurs and Sacramento's Kevin Huerter.

In addition to Fox, the Spurs receive Jordan McLaughlin, who averaged 1.9 points in 28 games for the Kings.

Cuban sold the team and isn't part of basketball operations. He has a small minority share I think.

So don't think he has to be kept in the loop anymore.

Completely forgot about that. When I think of that team he comes to mind, then Dirk.

This guy is a loser and is everything wrong with the NBA right now. Unhappy in Miami, so is bailing on the team and acting like a diva. So the team is looking for potential trading partners, yet he is only willing to sign on with certain teams (likely only Phoenix). So he is both quitting on the team and holding the deal over their heads.

I wish the owners would get together and refuse to deal with players with this kind of attitude. Let him rot or playing in China once his deal is up. Stop giving into these kinds of demands. It shows what kind of person Butler is, why would anyone want a player with this kind of attitude on their team?

Athletes in general are getting richer and richer and more entitled as time goes on. This isn't adding to anything, but I'm just saying this is a challenge that will continue to grow as time goes on. How do you get a person who has more money than they'll ever need and dreamed of, to perform at their highest when they've settled in? Up to this point Butler has been the model guy to perform hard. The fact that he of all people is acting like this either tells me something is happening behind the scenes where he's angry AF with the team, or he's become entitled too. I personally think something shady happened behind the scenes and he's being difficult as a result.

Although, to be fair, so are owners.

For sure. It’s a paradox though. When a player has made enough money that they’ve never had, at what point do they cash in and coast? Sucks for the fans who pay. I guess to some degree you can say some owners keep the money instead of spending to the cap but I think players holding the team hostage sucks for the fans.
