Not sure what the expectations are for Zayne.

Did you think we drafted him to be a shutdown player ?

Just a question, what did you think of TJ Brodie? Not that he’s comparable, but I remember how much heat Brodie would take for not being “perfect” but the good far, far outweighed the negative but certain fans just couldn’t see beyond the lack of defensive perfection.
Oh I want the kid to end up being the next Cale Makar. Just making observations. First of the prospect games I have gotten to see live. And I had big expectations for seeing what Parekh can do. He is just standing out in a bad way.

So is Jurmo.

I'll stop harping on him. I am sure he will use this year to work on his complete game and we should see him be much more dominant next year. He just isn't setting himself apart from the other prospects in a way I had hoped he would at something like this.

Jurmo has no real expectations attached to him. Probably not an NHLer. If he makes it it's as a depth D.

I want him to become a Makar or a Hughes, not a Marc-Andre Bergeron.

Expectations versus reality. Feels like WastedYouth thought he was going to make the NHL this year which would basically be generational. Makar needed a few seasons of development before making it.

That’s cool, maybe shouldn’t be expecting a 18 year old to look like the 2 best defenceman in a pond hockey game.

That may be, but Murphy looked a bit shaky in game one as well. These games don't really mean too much though and he did pretty well in the AHL last year.

Which is definitely not something you can tell from his first rookie tourney lol

Seems like he’s expecting him to win the Norris this year.

Kind of harsh

I didn't expect him to look like them. I was hoping he would just look better than he has. Which has not been great.

I have stated multiple times in the draft threads and other roster related threads that I figured he might need a couple years.

Even if he was dominant in this tournie I would still hope he would go back to Junior for a year or two.

The NHL isn't for 18 year old Dmen.

Turnover aside, I’m impressed by what I’ve seen out of Gridin tonight. Hockey sense is on display, and he’s showing good hustle.

And he's one of the kids who is actually playing with some physicality on the forecheck. Which is good!

A team of men vs a thrown together roster of kids. Skill is not the issue but chemistry and structure. Nothing to worry about. Think the Flames are competing well actually given everything they are facing.

If youvery been watcing the criticisms of 89 in games 1-2 are justified given that he looksmuch much better today.

Totally agree. Seeing a really good benchmark here to gauge progress going forward from this roster. Lots of bright spots
