Wonder if any of the government conspiracy crowd have thought about whether Trump is the distraction that they tried to put on that whole alien saga lol.
The way events have unfolded feels almost scripted.
People detest him but can't look away. They probably give him more attention and energy than their own children.
The way the orange man wins is by monopolizing people's attention. As long as he does (no matter how), there will be value in his existence to those with power, since that is practically today's most valuable resource.

I've been vocal in how I dramatically cut my exposure to US politics for how much of a sh-t-show it is and the fact that I have zero influence in the matter (and Canadian politics to a lesser extent), and how good getting all that sh-t out of the way has been for my mental well-being.
That being said, I will admit I am definitely getting some enjoyment out of watching Trump's games fail him so spectacularly, especially since I was not exactly excited about Harris being the candidate. The one thing I thought made her a poor choice for voter appeal -- that she's been nearly invisible throughout Biden's term -- has ended up being a massive strength in that there's really f-ck all for Trump and his strategists to target her on. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed being this wrong.
At least this time around, it isn't watching Trump drive our southern neighbours into chaos with each other and the rest of the world and hoping something actually gets done about it. It's watching Trump drive himself into irrelevance.
