His “antics” have been toned down a lot. And he’s the better for it. Did he throw any tantrums in the last couple years? He used to let the opposition and media dictate his play. He’d get the better of a rival like Doughty one game but the next game the same guy would play supper hard and have the last laugh. He’s way better now.

Amazing what leadership and maturing will do. Rally around him post game, at any point. Not even during the moment.

Obvious to you, not obvious to anyone else. Treliving fumbled it.

Do you think he should have been singing 1-year deals for eight years? He signed a 68 million dollar contract. Term and security is just as important for finance.

Sure, but I think it’s still pretty important for all of us to agree Brad Treliving is an idiot. In four years from now, we can still ruminate on this as I’m sure it will put our minds at ease.

I think the dweeb and Chucky would have signed another contract in Calgary if we beat the Oilers in 2022. We would have won at least 1 or 2 games against the Avs.

I'm not beating around any bushes. You want to go through my post history? Fill your boots.
I advocated for Treliving to have been fired a long time ago. 4-5 Years ago.
And don't fool yourself into thinking he 'wasn't asked back.'
You don't prevent a former employee from looking for future employment because he's 'Hot Awesome.'
He got canned and prevented from looking up future jobs until his Daddy asked them not to and lined up the TO job.
Have fun!

Tkachuk said himself - a long term deal here was “5 years”. He hankered after the US. He’s revelling in Florida winters.
Chucky matured. He probably saw that what some of the vets had been telling him was correct.

Giordano turned Tkachuk into the man he is today. Gave him tough love and made him a better man, person and player. What a stud of a captain Gio was.

Spitting Chiclets Podcast
Quote:
During this process this summer, I kind of thought back to three years prior when I was going through my contract situation then,” said Tkachuk on Tuesday's episode of Spittin' Chiclets. “Throughout the whole process after my entry-level, I was just like ‘No, [I want to sign for] six, seven, eight years. What are we doing?’ And nothing really came from it.”

LOL, Ok, 6.
If you haven’t figured it out by now, Tkachuk knows how to play the press.

So we take him for his word when it suits your narrative (five) but when it doesn't (six, seven or eight, not just six) we brush it aside. Cool.

Tkachuk has said numerous times he wanted to sign long term that year. He wasn't playing the press. Treliving is an idiot.

Long term was 6 that year, same duration as Marner and Rantanen, it's been talked about endlessly.
And in the end it might change nothing, as he could have still asked for a trade that offseason if he really wanted to.

Treliving is arguably the worst GM in team history. He inherited a core of players that had a fun little run, took ownership money and created a flawed lineup and couldnt hire a coach for the life of him. Brought back a local legend and then soured that relationship with his bull####. Now the fanbase has soured on the only guy that has done something for this franchise in the last 35 years. And we're left with a rebuild and years of pain ahead of us. I can't wait for that ###### to be crucified in Toronto after tanking their core. Doesnt matter for captain nepotism though. He'll always have the boston pizza fortune to fall back on.

You must not remember Doug Risebrough or Craig Button. Or Jay Feaster, come to that.
