Well said. Excess cap becomes pretty useless after UFA Batch 1 and 2 IIRC from my previous tenure. Once rosters are set most trades come with cap to balance things anyway.

When i criticized the previous deal it was largely because the picks weren't shopped. If you are going to trade your 1st for your cap, you owe it to yourself to make sure the entire league knows about it - so you can maximize the value.

I have cap to spare, but if the value doesn't exceed what I can get in free agency, I don't see the point.

I like MacTavish a lot, but I'm not sure if his production will increase beyond what it is today, mainly because if Carlsson. An I'm a big fan of Zellweger and have had my eye on him for a very long time.
Fun deal.

Washington trades Jake Evans and Mason McTavish to Carolina for Trevor Zegras and TJ Brodie.
Thanks for the chat 3Thirty, this wasn't even what we started our talks with.
McTavish didn't want to be in Washington and Zegras wanted to be close to the capitol in November.

Please submit the deal to the league right away so I can process it before the UFA bidding deadline passes

So, Malkin landed in Ottawa, took a look around, and decided he wanted to go back to Pennsylvania!
To Philly - Malkin
To Ottawa - Pyotr Kochetkov, Ondrej Becher.
In addtion, Philly sends Ottawa their own 2025 3rd round pick to complete the Arvidsson trade.
Honestly trading Malkin was hard, but he is getting older, and Kochetkov should improve. I really like Becher, who exploded last year in junior, which led to him being drafted as a double over-ager.
Now a hole at center again, but lots of time, and the trades are the best part for me.
Thanks, JonDuke.

Aside from Svech, Kochetkov might be my fav non-flame to follow and I hated giving him up but Malkin rounds our top 6 so well that it had to be done.

The Dallas Stars have traded Juuse Saros to the Washington Capitals for G Ilya Samsonov, 26 2nd(Bos) and prospect Jiri Kulich.
Disappointed that I've had to trade away most of the key players due to cap issues but its part of the business. Not really the return I was hoping to get but with Saros' $8M contract I was tied up with what I could get.
Samsonov will likely backup Skinner for this upcoming season while Jiri Kulich looks to be a promising prospect with some good upside.

Pricey for a goalie, but he's a guaranteed starter for the next 3 or 4 yrs behind a deep Preds team...so if you can stomach the salary then it's worth it

Not sure it's that pricey for a goalie like Saaros who should remain a top performing goalie for a loooong time.
That being said, sim is voodoo. Goalies are voodoo. Double voodoo is double spooky.
