Get lost and let us make a trade. You can sign wherever you want in a couple months.

It's totally BS that the NHL is letting Hanifins agent tamper with any trades the Flames wanna make. The Flames are not talking to any of the teams on his No Trade List.

Some of those guys will be older by then, young teams are starting to get better in that division (Buffalo, Detroit, Ottawa), and they are already only 5th in their division.
Time catches up to everyone.

Hot take: I predict they all will be.

Kypreos to me has been out of the insider game for a long while. He might have information but I'd rank him lower on the believability scale than Serivalli (whom I am not a fan of).

Perhaps that's sec's way of stating that the rumor is false without completely overstepping what they're allowed to reveal?

The Flames can trade him to any team not on his list but it is in their best interest to go to a team he’ll extend with. If that isn’t going to happen then he may end up somewhere random as a rental

Yeah, an extended Hanifin is gonna get you more. Or at least in theory.

If that’s the best asset you can swing for a 26 year old top pairing defenseman I am not impressed.

What’s the immediacy? Who cares if they’re 12 or 15 or 18? It’s a future Flame prospect. They don’t need to be ready to roll tomorrow. Some of us care about setting up a prospect pipeline.
I wish GMs thought this way, I’d rip two 1st rounders 4 and 5 years in the future instead of 1 in 3 months.

Put me in the camp that doesn't like the idea of a 2026 first round pick and neither Florida team has a first round pick until 2026.

Drai is not that bad a skater but even then most slow guys don’t make it unless they have his other world class skills.
Same as saying if Gaudreau can make it, small guys can make it. He is one in a millions

I'll take an extra free bingo ball for the Gavin McKenna sweepstakes (specifically from Tampa over Florida).
Father time already catching up on that dynasty

Most people use Draisaitl as an example but his skating wasn't even that bad to begin with. Mechanics was just choppy and still is, but his speed was always pretty good. Skating can be fixed to be more efficient but you can't make a slow guy fast.

This is the trend that will only continue. Athletes will continue to demand more say where the play. If they can't get NTCs, they will leverage contract length and free agency to dictate where they go. And they will use that to dictate where they get traded, by making it clear where they are willing to sign and where they are not.
The NBA is the NHL a few years down the road in terms of players really dictating where they play.
This train isn't going to slow down. Toot toot.

Then add 3 more years to see if you have a player from it, maybe 4. This is a ~5 year investment. That isn't planning for now, this is planning for 2030. Decent chance the front office won't even see the fruits of their labor, coaching staff will have changed, perhaps twice.

We can trade it when we need to pay Montreal to take one of our players.

I just don’t buy this narrative. For the past few trades (Tanev, Zadorov, Lindholm) we’ve heard almost ZERO news ahead of the trade. This feels like speculation rather than anything substantive at this point and I won’t be surprised at all of Hanifin heads somewhere else.

I’d take the 1st and prospect but no thanks to pubix 25 already and his 2nd season. Need something more.

I doubt it, as he has set up the scenario where he ends up in a Tampa.
If he truly wants Florida, he wouldn’t be signing a contact to play for Tampa.

That is encouraging. This tells me (just speculation mind you) that jersey is all in on both Hanny and Marky.
