If it involves Merkulov, whoever that is, I’m also loving the emphasis Conroy is making to acquire Russians.
Nobody wants to go fight in Ukraine. That country produces too many elite players for Kuzmenko to be our first Russian born forward since Saprykin.

Grzelyck is small and made of glass. Me thinks that return would not be great all.

Grzelcyk is also a pending UFA. If he's included in any deal between the Bruins and Flames, it will be essentially as a cap dump to make the rest of the deal possible.
He has a very small value to the Flames as a warm body on the blue line for the rest of this season.
I could see him being thrown in if the other pieces are right.

I’d imagine Grz is just for cap reasons. He’s a UFA too.

Yeah Poitras is the prize in that deal. I don't love the player but he's a young centre that already has played in the NHL, so I understand the appeal.

Grzelcyk might put a stop to the acquisition of Barrie or do the Flames deal Grz to a playoff team looking for additional depth at D?

It certainly appears as if the market for Hanifin is heating up.

I may be in the minority, but give me Bennett. Him and Huberdeau were great together in Florida, the shine has worn off in Florida with the point production a little down, and we could probably fetch another future 1st if we are taking cap away from them. I also think Bennett would be happy to fight for the 1st line center spot here. Makes too much sense to me.

I'd be up for that. Forbort does have a 3-team no-trade list. Probably Calgary is not on it.
(If I had a 3-team NTC, my teams would be Edmonton, Oilers, and No Good.)

that Boston trade is a good one and sets the floor...Florida or anyone else has to top it.

I don’t think the shine is off Bennett. Still producing fairly consistently and pretty damn valuable.

I'd take that from Boston. I think Poitras will be a good middle six center, and Grzelcyk could surely be flipped to a playoff team for another pick. Merkulov could have some upside too.

Neither are related, so I would take both.

Why do people keep saying this, was he they key driver in getting to the finals, or was he one of the 25 guys who played on a team and rode the hot goalie to the cup finals?

Sweet baby jeesus. It's experience gained. Going through the tournament is valuable experience.

Do you not like Merkulov and/or Poitras? I know nothing about Merkulov but his counting stats look pretty good.
