If there is one thing that Spector knows about, it is how to lose hockey games.

Montreal was playing Red Army same night in that infamous game.

Flames had just lost to the Leafs 2 nights earlier when Lanny had 4 points for Leafs and Pat Quinn fought Tiger Williams.

Two future NHL head coaches were in the Flames lineup for the Rangers game Pat Quinn and 19 year old Rick Bowness who only played 5 games that year.

48 years ago. Do you think any Flames player on the current roster will be an NHL head coach in 2071?
Backlund, maybe Weager.

Worst thing that could happen to the Oilers is meeting the Flames in the playoffs!
Keep yacking "Spec"
The oilers are MUCH closer to missing the playoffs (6 points) than winning the division (13 points)
AND
that is after a historic winning streak (Your schedule is about to get much tougher by the way)
with all your star power
this is a year before your "window" could very well slam shut!

and we are starting a re-tool that is looking better by the day

Not worried about the murky middle. Conroy has been clear that valuable free agents won't be leaving for nothing. They either re-sign or will get traded, and the chips will fall where they may. I am confident that he will stay the course.

I just like that Markstrom knew exactly what he was doing.

He had the game under control, he was feeling it....'swing away' bud.

I have zero issues with that.

They're having fun. Finally.

Yeah, those opportunities don't present themselves very often. I'd be disappointed if he didn't go for it. It would be different if it was a 1 goal game, but with a 3 goal lead that late? Go for it.

Exactly!

You could tell in the post-game youtube video...Markstrom had it. He knew what he was doing.

No problem. Give 'er! Have some FUN!

Classic Spector, reporting with his heart instead of his head. Even if there were some truth to the words (there isn't - what the Flames are doing right now is bonding as a group), Spector as a member of the Oilers.media, just comes across as petty, and a childish fan.

I couldn't have less respect for that petty little man.

They're having FUN.

I never played hockey, but I played and coached Soccer and when your team is winning and playing well, even if guys are trying crazy crap...it draws you together.

I know its a business. I know its a career. But its also a game.

If you're not having fun playing it? Thats going to bleed through to performance.

So does Weegar start entering the Norris conversation?

We got the Vezina thing going for Marky, seems fitting for the NHLs leading scorer on D to get into the Norris convo.
