The already hired the assistant Gm and Assistant Coach after talking about making changes. It's not like it's going to be more embarrassing to make a change. Now.

The Avs had a coach one year who got 48 points with MacKinnon, Landeskog, Rantanen, Duchene all on the team. The team was 34 points worse than the year before. That guy was an awful coach.

Flames can sleep easy with all of the participation ribbons awarded in this thread.
Never acceptable to lose to the Oilers, and never acceptable to make excuses about it
Darryl V1 had it right when he made beating them a priority.

You know this how? They got the call correct. How would stalling make them anymore correct?
Your confirmation bias is showing.

So you're advocating for another coach who by your account would be allowed to step in and do worse, and that would be better for us?
So Huska, in his first year is too bad at being good but not good enough at being bad?
Did he run over your dog?

On the positive side I thought Klapka played well for most of the game.

You would expect us to win a fluke game at least. Doesn't seem like these boys want playoff hockey.

First period was disappointing. No one showed up to compete for the whole first period.
Vladar was hung out to dry.

This is what I don’t understand. We always had stars who got up for these Battle of Alberta games - Iginla, Tkachuk, heck - the whole team in the 80s.
For two seasons now, this team has shown absolutely no GAF against these guys. Was there even one big hit tonight? One scrum after a face off? One “yo mama” joke? I saw nothing.
Instead we have guys getting beat by a scrub on an icing with an empty net. And getting turnstiled by Ryan ####ing McLeod.
Conroy, please get rid of the tired old guard and bring in some guys who will actually get up for a rivalry game.

It wasn't the worst game, so let's not over react. They hung in there for the whole game and the game tying goal was a fluke. If it wasn't the Oilers, I would just take this as one to grow on and move on.
I think they missed Pospisil as well. I was really looking forward to him causing a ruckus against the Oilers. I guess we'll have to wait.

Thanks to Vladar, the game looked close one.
Let's start trading.

Can't complain about anything but the final score.

Didn't look that way to me. Unless you mean dead puck era old school.
No flow, disjointed, constant giveaways from both sides but an edge there to the Flames.
Flames played on the perimeter and no one at forward wanted to take the shot, left it to the defence. Played scared and staked on eggshells through the first.
Even the gf noted that it was painful hockey to watch. Went back to our movie.
Glad you had fun though.
Not sure what happened to the BOA, but that? That ain't it. Not enough GAF on our end, and too many spineless pansies on their end that'll never back up their chirping.

Trades will happen when the right offers come.
Despite what some people fear I doubt winning has changed Conroy's approach. He knows the team isn't a contender and he knows he can't let his UFAs walk for nothing. If the right deal comes along for non-UFAs that he thinks will make the team better for the future he will consider that too.

I wouldn’t get too down on the vets. Some of the biggest noncompete players are young guns. Pospisil is the only newbie with some grit. Gilbert too.

Hired guns/free agents that have no connection to the rivalry. Gotta start that hate as rookies and let them feel the excitement of these battle of Alberta games.

Ironic part is after a game where the hardest competitor was your goalie he might be the one getting traded.
Wouldn’t you want a guy like that in your organization?

This is not a good timeline for my sports fandom lol
Almost 9 years ago the lottery balls fell in the worst way possible and I knew then we were in for some real pain
The only thing keeping this from being 100% disaster is that the oilers haven't won a cup with McDavid yet. So far the Avs and Knights have saved our asses, hopefully a team can save us from pure hell once again.
Only this year it looks like there will be two bullets to dodge instead of one.
Terrible terrible timeline
