I am wondering if this is more ATCO and Spruce Meadows than it is the Cavs management team.

Great statement, Sherm. I respect the difficulty of trying to maintain a positive relationship with the club, even when they do stupid things.

The fact is, the supporters (in general) need to be communicated with and treated with more respect. And as the biggest, most established, and OG supporters group, the Foot Soliders have a responsibility to call this stuff out for all supporters.

Bravo. Seriously. If they have any sense at all, they'll invite a few of you over to sit and talk about it and accept some feedback.

But they don't, and they won't.

They're snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Yikes.

Sounds like McMahon flunked for #### turf, and Commonwealth is booked. Also sounds like they cheaped out on the turf heating.

So a combination of bad planning and hard luck.

This will sound like a dumb question, but why wouldn't Cavalry just... say what they told Postmedia in their statement? Or post a video explaining it in detail or whatever?

Or emailed season ticket holders, or whatever.

If it proves anything, fans were ravenous about the idea of watching a match in Feb. which is probably a good thing.

Were ravenous. Question is how many still will be.

If only Cavalry was owned by a utility company who could heat a pitch for three months… oh wait…

Woulda been nice to have that 40,000-seat indoor fieldhouse in the West Village right now, just saying.

Knowing Calgary, they would probably put in the wrong turf to save a buck.

Sherm's Foot Soldiers tweet also got quoted. Good. Why the supporters have to learn the rationale in a Calgary Sun article is the bigger issue here - there are easier and more direct avenues available.

I hope they use this as an impetus for thinking about a new indoor field house. This is the kind of opportunity that cannot be missed out on, especially for a city with over a million people and closing in on 1.5 very fast.

I don't know why the club wouldn't just....say that in their statement. To put out a short statement, anger your supporters, and then have to explain yourself in a Calgary Sun article (while continuing to not actually communicate with your supporters) is just so mindless.

The club has never been great with communication and this is just another prime example. You would think they would have learned by now but I guess the learnings continue.

What's even more frustrating is the club was the one who wanted the watch parties for the CONCACAF draw. Ample opportunities to sit down with those who joined and explained the situation.

Guess I'll just wait to get my peepee slapped for criticizing the club publicly again.

What that article doesn’t answer is what did they do at Spruce Meadows to help keep the ground soft other than just hope that it wouldn’t freeze? In Calgary. Sounds like they were just hoping it would work and didn’t plan anything.

And why not put it out there a month ago that McMahon isn’t a Concacaf approved alternative. Get ahead of this

Sounds like they literally threw on a tarp, did zero for heat, and looked shocked that ground freezes. Using propane is bad apparently. Really poor stuff.

Ian Allisson, in a nutshell, shermantor. He sure likes the sound of his own voice and speaking in circles.

I don’t even think they threw on a tarp. The pitch was uncovered at the Spruce Meadows Christmas market the weekend I was there
