All 1st place votes are likely going to go to Bedard or possibly a handful could go to a defenceman. Can't see any other forward getting a 1st place vote.
I know it’s a few months away… but I wonder, at this point, which player from the flames would be their pick to go to the all-star game? I think it would be down to one of Kadri, Zary, Sharangovich or Weegar.

Considering Kadri got it last year, I would think they would favour Weegar (and he is as worthy as anyone, IMO)

For the record, the teams don't select who goes to the ASG. The NHL selects 8 players from each division and the fans select the final 3, totalling 11 players (9 skaters, 2 goalies).

It would be a cool story for any of Zary, Sharangovich or Weegar being an Allstar. Zary because he is a rookie who has surprised everyone. Sharangovich because of him being the big piece in the Toffoli trade. Weegar because of his unique path to the NHL.

Yeah absolutely, any of them would be a great pick.
It would be fun to see Sharangovich at the ASG and Toffoli... not at the ASG. I don't have a hate on for Toffoli at all, but it would still be pretty funny. He wants out, and we get an all-star in return plus a pick.

Coleman wouldn't be a bad pick either.
Right now though I would think it's Weegar.
Is the all-star roster more team based or division based this year?
I think Weegar is behind Hughes, Bouchard, Hronek, Theodore, Pietrangelo, Doughty, and Dunn as far as all-star considerations go in the Pacific this year.
If they simply pick the best Flames player, I could see Weegar being picked as well. That said, there were only 6 D picked to the all-star game last year.
Bedard would have to get hurt and miss 1/3 of season or more for any other player to have any chance in winning this. Just the way the voters will do it.

His age and pedigree pretty much guarantee he’ll win if he has a decent season.
And he’s been a human hi-light real playing virtually by himself.
He’s on pace for 75 points , the next highest on the team is on pace for 47 points.

They can’t just pick the best player as there has to be someone from each team, plus they need to fill out the roster position wise.
Since Calgary doesn’t currently have anyone who would make it on merit (other than perhaps Marky based on goalies), their selection likely comes down to positional needs for the team, as the flames have guys at each position who could be selected.
I'm pretty sure they go with a combo of best/most recognizable player, regardless of position.
Even after the fan votes, Central had 3 D and the other divisions only had 1 each. Like, they don't even change the fan ballots to ensure balanced rosters (other than goalies -- the fan ballot was 2 skaters, 1 goalie from each division).
I’m thinking it’ll be tough to displace Bedard by the end of the season. But Zary will definitely be the Flames rookie of the year. I have been surprised at the amount of poise he has. I remembered the year he and Pelletier were on the WJ team together. I believe Pelletier was a year older. Zary didn’t have a major role on the team. I thought Pelletier was by far the better player. I think that has almost switched now. Good on Zary for working towards improving. He is an exciting young prospect. There are a number of them coming up from the Wranglers.

I’d say Kadri, Markstrom, Weegar and funny as it may sound Coleman would be our options. Darkhorse would be Zary.
But this topic shines a light on one of the Flames bigger issues. Who is our best player? There are no standout level players.

Zary doesn't have to displace Bedard to be in the Calder conversation. It seems like a good bet that he will be among the top rookies for the remainder if the season.

Zary has been awesome this year and is a big part of the Flames. Huge props to the kid. He just looks like he belongs. I've noticed however, that he isn't getting any attention around the league. Not even a mention. It's odd to me.
Maybe not the best example below as Zary just misses the cut off in the list, but there have been many more general examples of best rookie, etc and he is never listed or mentioned.
