True, though in an alternate universe all those guys go way earlier to other teams (or in Point's case, earlier to TB since they had two draft picks thsat year ahead of Point who did nothing).

Yeah that's what it means. (I think Finnish media might even be required to mention that.)

Rönni has to decide if he wants to appeal. If he doesn't, the sentence becomes binding. If he does appeal, the sentence becomes binding only after the appeal is resolved.

Standard legal procedure.

Our 2nd round draft pick to (potential) rapist ratio is way too damn high.

Even before the sexual assault. What a waste of a second rounder

Right call, obviously.

What a bad ####ing pick. Never understood it, even before the scandal. Just brutal stuff all around.

Would basically have taken any of the next 8 picks over him, even at the time, but particularly obvious: Lane Hutson, Adam Sykora, Gleb Trikozov.

2nd round just hasn't been kind to the Flames in this century.

2000 #40 D Kurtis Foster
2000 #46 C Jarret Stoll
2001 #41 C Andrei Taratukhin
2001 #56 G Andrei Medvedev
2002 #39 C Brian McConnell
2003 #39 D Tim Ramholt
2008 #48 C Mitch Wahl
2011 #45 C Markus Granlund
2011 #57 D Tyler Wotherspoon
2012 #42 D Patrick Sieloff
2014 #34 G Mason McDonald
2014 #54 R Hunter Smith
2015 #53 D Rasmus Andersson
2015 #60 D Oliver Kylington
2016 #54 G Tyler Parsons
2016 #56 C Dillon Dube
2020 #50 D Yan Kuznetsov
2021 #45 L William Stromgren
2022 #59 C Topi Ronni
2023 #48 D Etienne Morin

Just a mess. Foster was traded before turning pro, Stoll re-entered the draft, the two Russians and McConnell never made it. Ramholt played a single 45 seconds shift for the Flames, Wahl had his career derailed by concussions. 2014 was a total nightmare (McDonald over Demko and a big overager in Smith), but at least they nailed 2015.

Luckily, Morin and the 2024 2nd rounders will turn into Hall of Famers, but still.

Would the Flames potentially be compensated in the form of a compensatory pick for this guys non disclosure of this event? Would be nice to get something out of it.

Hated the pick the second it was made and hate it even more now, but good decision by the Flames to renounce the pick now.

Never made sense for this team to draft a big forward whose upside seemed to be middle 6 winger, when Lane Hutson was there and this team desperately needed defensive prospects with high ceilings offensively.

The product of a draft where we had three picks and decided to pick a low ceiling, high floor player to get something out of it. Unfortunately, he’s a basement suite and his floor was subterranean and his morals are even lower.

Good riddance.
