An expensive yet disinterested player on an expensive retirement contract for another 6 years in exchange for cap space, a 1st round pick and a heart and soul player.
And an expensive goalie on the wrong side of 30 who cant stop a Beach Ball for another 3 years.
All after letting our premiere player walk away for free.
You can claim that he left this team with assets to trade, but I'd contend that he left just as many Boat Anchors.

Wow, some amazing psychic powers you seem to expect him to have.
Huby had the 3rd most points in the entire NHL (behind only the two up north) in the 3 seasons prior to this past one. The team was putting all its chips into trying to win now, so the contract made sense. If the team wasn't in win-now mode, then it would have made sense to trade him. But they were.
Kadri is not a disinterested player. His point totals are down from the prior season, but that has a lot to do with not playing in the types of situations he played in during his time with the Avs.
Monahan can't stay healthy.
Marky seems to have done just fine for the first 2 seasons of the contract. You're expecting Tre in 2020 to somehow know that Marky was going to decline this rapidly in year 3 of the deal. I don't remember anyone on this board being upset with the signing at the time.
"Letting" Johnny walk away after doing literally everything in his power to keep him.
Tre had his faults, sure, but you're overstating things by quite a bit.
