I remember thinking it was an impressive hire, given Muller's experience and his reputation.

Makes me wonder, Flames management doesn't regard Love as NHL calibre. In that case, do they lay it on Dustin Wolf carrying that team? And has carrying 3 goalies ever worked?

I'm not sure this is an accurate statement. The Flames didn't see him as the winning candidate for the head coaching position, and when that wasn't awarded to him he was not interested in an assistant position here, instead choosing to pursue other opportunities in the NHL.

That is much different than "Flames management doesn't regard Love as NHL calibre".

Running the Caps PP is the easiest job in the NHL.

Get puck to big Rusky. And that's it.

That's the crazy part. They've been trotting that PP out for how many years and it's still successful. Maybe that changes soon.

Good riddance. Our powerplay was rubbish.

Anyone can just say 'Pass it to Ovechkin.'

I get the feeling Huska was always Conroy's guy from the day he was hired as GM rather than anything to do with Love.

Wonder if Sutter goes somewhere as consultant again or something like that.

Doubt it.

I think if he takes another job he's no longer collecting his $8M?

I think that Farmer is well put out to pasture.

Lol is this directed at me? "losing" Love doesn't need to be rationalized...the Flames picked the guy they thought was better for HC.

Is Love a good NHL coach? Who knows. Wranglers had a great roster and the best goalie in the league. I think a lot of guys would have done well.

It's not like he got an HC job elsewhere either

I think he said he talked with the Flames and they never got back to him or pursued it any further.

Hard to tell if he was upset and went elsewhere or he wanted to stay but the team felt it was best to part ways.

What's done is done and I am excited about our staff especially since we Savard who my was my #1 target as HC after reading the material available about how he coaches and hearing him speak since being hired just reconfirms everything.

Actually no wasn't really directed at you in particular at all just a general comment that CP writ large does it. And that's completely fine too, nothing wrong with that, people are fans. It's a good thing probably.

But don't you ever wonder, if every move the team makes is defensible and great and all makes sense, why are the results so wanting?

They average 87 points a year the last decade....it's not the top end but it's above average.

I don't think the AHL coaching moving to another team is a huge factor either way

I get that not everything needs criticism and hindsight is 20/20, and that 31 organizations miss their goals too, but I also don’t think criticizing the Flames direction or organization warrants the type of thronged positive policing that occurs around here. Sometimes valid points are made from all types of lenses, and sometimes there is no defending the indefensible. There have been, as a matter of (almost) fact, some super poor decisions made by the Flames over time. The longer I have been a fan of this team, the longer it is apparent that such mistakes likely start at ownerships level.

Pretzel logic’ing your way into defending everything the team does has the sort of extreme bias that neuters your general takes, if you’re that type of poster. That’s all.

If Love is the next great NHL coach we can bump this and be wrong. I have my doubts.

I think he is a fine coach but often the players have more to do with winning and losing for me anyway.

Mike Babcock was the best coach ever with stacked team Canada and the Wings. 31st overall with a #### Leafs roster
