I liked the way Calgary finished the game. Got rough and didn't quit. Keep that up.

Was there ever anything more reported after Vladar smashed his stick and left practice early a week or two ago?
Vladar showed signs of being capable of running with the starter role here earlier in the season, yet Sutter refused to give him the shot. You have to wonder how frustrated or checked out he must be at this point. Playing a disinterested and uninspired Vladar might be just as bad as a broken Markstrom.

At least not without throwing in a Grade A prospect.

Ottawa traded for and signed Matt Murray to a bigger contract.
They aren’t smart in Ottawa. Anything can happen.

100%. You don’t put a rookie goalie behind this team. Odds of ruining him are too strong. He has to earn a #2 job out of camp and prove himself as a backup first, or be an injury call up.

Why would Markstrom agree to go to Ottawa?

The Flames are 9th in the West and are pretty decent in most regards other than goaltending. You are aware of this, aren’t you?
They aren’t are 15th place team with horrible defensive metrics.

You can bring wolf, zary, pettersen and Poirier up soon and get a head start on next year. Flames will be effectively out of the playoff chase soon enough.

Until the on-ice product effects the bottom line, I don't think Murray Edwards gives any thought to the roster.

Such a disappointing season. Hopefully they can find a way to be a more competitive team next year.
