This is exactly how I feel. Dube on the right side of the Kadri line with Huberdeau would be worth a look.

I expect to see something like that eventually but not right away. My hunch is that the new players don't quite have the system down yet, so Sutter's keeping the new guys on separate lines to learn from players that were here last year. Probably why we've seen a lot of Lewis and Lucic in the top 9 as well.

Give it a bit of time for Kadri and Huberdeau to fully get up to speed, and (assuming Ruzicka keeps it up) the top 9 will look great:

Ruzicka-Lindholm-Toffoli
Huberdeau-Kadri-Dube
Mangiapane-Backlund-Coleman

I think your hunch is spot on. If Huberdeau-Kadri can click when put back together (I’m almost 100% sure we’ll see that tried again) we’ll have decent slotting and a deep top 9. Lots of ifs but the thought is exciting.

It’s had me thinking of A League of Their Own ever since.

Hard to say what the real relationship is between Sutter and Huberdeau. Yes there has been some quotes and media speculation but at the end of the day none of us really know what’s going on. I’m a huge Sutter fan and I hope he can dial the rhetoric down (based on some of his comments). We need Huby to be at his best and throwing him under the bus is only going to sour things.

I’m guilty of reading into things but you need to keep your star player happy. Also, Huby seems like a guy with a lot of pride and professionalism. He isn’t milking his contract or shying away from his responsibilities (as some have said about Johnny and his desire to win).

It’s in everyone’s best interest to turn this around. Hopefully common sense will prevail and both will get on the same page. As I said perhaps I’m reading too much into this but having the coach and top player not communicating isn’t a great sign.
