One thing the cover has going for it, even with the SoCal theme, is that neither Zegras nor Nurse come off as huge ####ing nerds who love Lords of the Rings.

Yeah, NERDS, cut it out... now let's get back to talking about our video game.

I'm so happy Rocket League exists and i dont feel obligated to buy another game from this cynical trash heap of a franchise every two years just so i can enjoy playing a sports game online.
Sorry for dragging LOTR into this, it's been hard finding people who want to talk about the new series at all.
There is a subreddit with over 70K members. Maybe you will have better luck once the show actually drops, and people get a chance to see it?

I would also imagine that facebook groups like "Lord of the Rings on Prime" with 230k members would help in finding some people who are into the series? Or the "The Rings of Power" facebook group, or "The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime - Tolkien's Second Age Series", or "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power"... or you could go to any of the numerous Lord of the Rings fan groups elsewhere on the internet, like TheOneRing which has a dedicated subforum for the series, and I think I saw them arrange cinema screenings in Canada for the first two episodes if one would be interested in the series. Bet one could find someone interested in talking about the series there.
You know, places Matata would absolutely already know about if he actually was in any shape or form a fan who actually cares about LotR instead of a sad, sad troll

So, what I've learned from this thread, is that the Lord of the Rings should have had a young unknown star pose with a coloured woman, and then maybe it would also get argued about on a hockey forum

I'm officially ####ing lost here, boys
Try to keep up.
Lord of the Rings books AND movies kick ass.
The Hobbit book kicks ass, the movie tried to do too much and failed.
The Rings of Power Amazon series isn't out yet, but it's a show about the ancient history of Tolkiens world, before the events of the Lord of the Rings, but they are taking massive creative liberties which worries purists like me.
The Rings of Power was brought into the conversation because people think the NHL covering is pandering to women/POC with the Nurse nod, and the Rings of Power is pandering because it has POC as elves and dwarves etc. My biggest gripe about the show is there are Elves with short hair. Like wtf? Who has ever seen an Elf with short hair.

Ah, but why would Tolkein bother to tell us that Olwë's hair was long if it was a given that all elves had long hair?
Checkmate.
