They beg for food at the dinner table (of course they do because they know they will get fed by the owners who don't do anything to keep the dog away from me, so that means I have a dog in my crotch while I'm trying to eat dinner).
But worst of all is when they will touch the dogs when they are cooking. Like the dog will grab food from their hand, certainly getting drool on it, and they won't wash their hands. They don't even notice because they are just used to it.
Some will share things like hot dogs and continue eating it after they let the dog take a bite.
Am I taking crazy pills.
I hate going to that house.

I would have zero problems going to that house.
Of course they're going to look for a treat from the dinner table but if you ignore them they'll leave you alone.
Of course dogs will bark when someone comes to the door. A lady friend of mine has 2 Yorkies and they go crazy when I come to the door. It's because they are happy to see me and enjoy the attention I give them.
If you're worried about dirty feet on furniture I hope you don't own a cat. They leave thier hair on everything including clothes of people who come to visit. And no I don't hate cats.

begging for food and barking can be trained out of a dog, but I draw the line at cooking with dog hands, sorry.

Begging for food can be cured by keeping the dog out of the kitchen. In fact you could ask the family you are visitng to do that due to your concerns.
Barking on the other hand is often because the dog is territorial and or protective of the property. Watch what happens when you approach a car with a dog in it.
In some cases dogs bark because they want to get your attention so they can go outside and do their business.

Dion , no way you nor I will ever be able to convince or convey the joy and benefits that dogs bring to many people and to our lives . There will always be people who have their opinions against dogs and that’s cool.
If people won’t come over because of my dog that’s their choice. Not sure if I want them over anyhow as they probably are the same person who cheers when in a movie when a
dog dies while my heart breaks.
But different strokes and all.
“ I wouldn’t recommend Dogs , drugs , alcohol and violence, but it’s worked for me.

I have an aunt who has 3 cats. I know that when I go to have a visit with her that there will be cat hair everywhere and i'm fine with that. Her cats will want to sit on my lap and visit with me.
It comes down to people being tolerant given the situation. Having to remove the cat hair from my clothing is a small price to pay when visiting my aunt. The same can be said for people visiting homes with dogs.

Quite a generalization. But not entirely untrue, just remove most and insert “there are many that you’ve met.”

I'm saying be tolerant of the situation your are in. It's not like the dogs are yours and you have to live with them everyday. If it bothers you that much then decline the invitation and state why.
The vast majority of dog owners are good dog owners. It's the very small percentage that give good owners a bad name.
I live on a busy street where people are walking their dogs daily. I have yet to have a bad encounter. If i'm in the garage they'll stop as their dogs dogs know I have a treat for them or want to be petted.

Who says I am not tolerant? I am just pointing out the absurdity of cooking with dog saliva and eating with a dog between your crotch.
Sounds pretty tolerant to me.

Slivers premise of dogs are gross is not untrue. I’m a dog lover and have endured puke , feces , urine, destruction , hair everywhere. My dogs throughout my life have chewed rolled in everything imaginable. Licked their genitalia and tried to share this love. Also had a dog who did have anal glands which should spew a very pungent odour on occasion.
I have lived with and through all of this. Farm life does not bother me either and that can be incredibly gross.
I’m just not into hate because it’s not you or what you want.

And yet we have Sliver who has created a thread/discussion to trash dogs and their owners.
I don't have a cat and probably never will. That doesn't mean I hate cats. And you won't see me me creating a thread to bash cats and their owners.

Cats, generally try to kill me whenever I spend any time around them. That might be why I dislike them, however I have to question the soul of anyone who prefers the company of a cat to that of a dog. I know I'm humanizing an animal, but my dogs appear to be genuinely happy to see me whenever I come home. Cats are stuck up snobs. I know many people who have both, and I get it. But if you are anti-dog and all about the cats...just not sure about your emotional capacity.
I hope I am in line with the spirit of the thread here.

As far as cats go it depends on how regularly and well you clean their litter. I've been to places where the smell is fine and others where it's bad.

None of the cats I've had were/are snobs. The two females we have are scared of people they aren't used to but they're not snobby at all with people they're comfortable with.

Cats are as unique regarding their personalities and habits as dogs. Our current boy races to the front door when he hears us coming home and friendly with guests and visitors. He runs around chasing foam balls and flips around catnip stuffies. He's a long-haired tuxedo, so we get him an annual "lion" cut in the summers to ease the mats and knots that we can't seem to stay ahead of, so we essentially have 6 hair-free months. He'll shed more when he gets older, but for now his hair is almost exclusively localized to his sleeping spots (a blanket on the couch and his cat tree). His litter box is in the basement in the utility room, and as long as you do the basics to maintain it you only smell it in the utility room.
He's extremely social and talkative, loves to play hide and seek, and even chases his tail. Very loyal, and he's happiest when everyone's home so he has someone to play or lay with. He's got a raucous purr, which is the most soothing sound in the world.
If you're a person that enjoys the company of a pet in the house the only real drawback is that you're automatically signing up for an inevitable very, very sad day.

Yes but you do not have an online attention seeking personality. Interactive yes…
Our Op has a gift of creating great controversy and I take it for fun and debate that I hope it is presented.

Yep, I've seen cats who can be real #######s but I've also seen dogs who are too. My aunt had two dogs who you couldn't even touch and they would snap and snarl at you. One of my sister's cats who is one of my cat's daughters has her moments of being affectionate with everyone but most of the time is cranky and just wants to be left alone.
My cat Mickey will always be waiting at the door when nobody is home. He's also the only one of our four cats who is a lap cat. The other two will come and sit beside us but never on us. Eboni will occasionally sit on the couch but she mostly likes to sit on the bay window and watch birds. If you call her she'll usually come running to get some pets and head hugs. Benji will actually chatter when you ask him a question which is always funny. He can get swatty if you pet him too much which is probably a habit he got from his previous owners who abandoned him but he's very affectionate.
We have the litter in the basement too and always make a point of scooping it every morning or at night. I spend a lot of the time in the basement and do smell it sometimes after they use it but it will go away in maybe 5 minutes. If you go in that area you smell it more but it doesn't linger around the house.

I kind of think it's the people who are anti-dog or anti-cat who have some antisocial aspect. Pets like dogs and cats are just part of our society.
