Why does the NHL gift so many chances to guys that are not and will not ever be good ambassadors to the game.?
I truly hope this is the last we see of this guy and any guy like him but NO....the league , DPS and seemingly thr NHLPA stand firmly behind this player who is horrible for the optics of the game.

I still cannot believe how desperate the league seems to be to have some kind of story they can publish. This IS NOT a feel good story and the history on this player on every single team he's played for is to be quite honest disgusting.

Just an embarrassing move by the league.

Between the ridiculous suspensions, Flames no-goal call and brutally inconsistent reffing it's been a really rough playoffs for the NHL. Amateur hour.

Just accept the fact that this is a 3rd rate league with incompetent refs and NHL Safety are staffed with morons. For everyone.

I mean how can anyone in Canada take the NHL seriously after they awarded the national contract to Sportsnet?

You think more people in Canada would "take the NHL seriously" if they had left money on the table and signed a lower offer for broadcasting rights? That is all kinds of delusional.

At least let TSN counter offer! Well look at where we are now? Piece of kyit commentators and analysts. Production values of Shaw TV.

You are delusional if you are ok with this product.

What makes you think that TSN was not afforded the opportunity to counter-offer? SN paid the NHL over $5 billion, and will almost certainly lose money on this deal. I think it is a good bet that Bell saw the offer and balked.

Irrelevant question, but just out of curiosity, would a multiple game suspension carry over to next season, and if so, pre-season or regular games?

If he would have received the suspension he deserved, he would have signed next season with a team and have to serve the rest of his suspension prior to the beginning his season with a new club. But like you said, irrelevant now.

I think NBA has done suspensions for "the rest of the series", which seems like the obvious prescription here.

The Flames wouldn't sign Kane, because they value the importance of strong team chemistry.

But for discussion sake. If they signed Kane, I would take a break from hockey.

If they signed Kane I would not wear anything with his name or offer him individual praise beyond a hockey play.

It wouldn't be lost on me that he's a trash person beyond the hockey and I wouldn't see myself losing sight of that in the way that many oiler fans have.

And I would hope that our local media would take the same approach. Keep it to strictly hockey and don't gush over the guy. Don't make "good" stories out of him. He doesn't deserve that treatment.
