That's the thing. All the full tank people are assuming the Flames will have the good fortune to land a franchise player like Bedard. When have they ever had such good luck? It's funny because it's sometimes the same people who are always so negative about anything flames, yet they omit this glaring fact that you need to be very lucky to land a player like that.

On the flip side of this, you have to be very good and lucky to win the Stanley Cup.

Luck factors in on both sides of it, but in both cases you need to put yourself in a realistic position for that luck to break in your favour.

I certainly do not believe this team has the pieces to put itself in a favourable position to win the Stanley Cup, so I’d like them to go in the other direction.

With both Johnny and MT we might have gotten some 1sts which would give us a better rebuild but without the 1st's we may start going through some long term growing pains. Does anyone remember how bad it getss on CP when the Flames are not winning? Brace yourselves and be careful what you ask for! Might be better if the Flames do a partial tank and grab a couple quality players to build around. Hopefully MT can get us some quality pieces.

In true Flames fashion, they'll not only tryhard, they'll trade draft picks for a chance to make the playoffs.

The Flames are like that stupid family member who makes all the wrong choices. You'll love them no matter what but you just know it won't end well.

This year's tanks will be fast. So many teams have more experience than Flames. Good news is there few C's in the first 10 picks next year's draft.

The hardest yard is getting Bedard.

Poetry aside, the way to build a contender without tanking, is to score on the draft picks you do have. Johnny, Mang, and Fox are examples of quality players that were drafted outside of premium draft positions. It can be done. Unfortunately for the Flames, Monahan suffering multiple hip injuries, and Bennett never panning out here, hamstrung their ability to properly form a cup-contending team. Now the issue is star players wanting to leave. If the Flames didn't have bad luck, they'd have no luck at all.

I think it's worse when people expect success and don't get it.

If we knew we were rebuilding, it would be fine. Expectations would be set.

I’m officially on the tank/tear it down train. What can we get for Lindbolm, Markstrom and Hanifin?

It’s not entirely about Bedard, drafting top 5 in the next few years will rebuild this franchise due to the talent available these next few years. Every team in the final four(Edmonton, Tampa, Colorado, NYR) have drafted in the top 5 for multiple years to get to where they are. It’s the best formula.

I think this is the time for the rebuild, but Flames won't do it; the motto would and should be:

Die Hard for Bedard.

The 2023 draft has 3 studs at the top of the draft class. Landing one of those and carefully managing other assets, this could be relatively quick rebuild and retool, not going the way of Coyotes/Sabres...

Yipeekayay, madafakas.

That first page is absolutely embarrassing with everyone not wanting a player like Bedard on the flames. This team, as currently constructed cannot possibly in any realm be considered a stanley cup contender. Even making the playoffs is a long shot, with a first round exit against Colorado or, God forbid the Oilers, all but a guarantee.

We could do a lot worse than trying to get a player of Bedards caliber on this team. If that requires tanking than so be it.

I feel like the posters rallying against tanking were probably not a large part of the flames fandom from 2006 until 2014.
